Okay is there any chance we can please make persuade a non aggressive command? I mean I can understand it having a critical fail and making a NPC aggressive, but as it is, it fails WAY too much. 23 cha Half elf bard with near mastered persuade and i literally fail a good 70% or more of my persuade attempts.

Not only that, if you use it in cities with laws you get outlawed there, which is a real pain. I understand that the utility of this spell is really strong, allowing bards to get some pretty nifty buffs, but at the same time, it's stupid how long it takes to get them when there's a small pool of NPCs you can persuade without having to worry about getting outlawed.

As it is now, theres 2 failure messages vs 1 success. The success just gives an ok, however you can either "fail to persuade them" or "they are completely unmoved by your words" both resulting in the NPC attacking you. Then of course, trying to persuade a player character is like bashing your head against the wall...Even a sliver of willpower makes songs of dancing and persuasion useless.

Anyway, /end rant.

Persuade as it is right now is pretty weak. You can only persuade super weak NPCs and get super weak buffs. I would love to see it beefed bit where it could even be used in pvp.

Yes, that was a really bad nerf for bards. Please make it as it was before and just make it break a law only when it fails.

this is not true unless it has changed. I used to get buffs from GM NPCs with my hellion by having Tyna persuade them.

Then perhaps you should test it again. My 24 charisma GM bard can barely persuade lvl 15/20 npcs. Forget about GMs.

[EDIT]

I also think persuade should be like tame with a successful non hostile attempt, a unsuccessful non hostile attempt, and a completely failed hostile attempt. Just much more successful then it is currently. I.e. Persuading someone to yell hello, and the person thinking you are nuts and just ignoring you, versus persuading someone to comitt a crime and reporting you for the attempt.

I also feel like it should not be affected by enchantments and go against natural stats. I.e. An elf telling a giant to jump off a cliff and an elf telling a gnome to jump off a cliff. That giant would be much more likely to do something then a wise and smart gnome.

It hasn't really changed much, but I find it very difficult to persuade NPCs at times. Not only that, the issue is like I said, the outlaw potential of it. That makes it only usable in Teron or other places that are lawless. I've noticed that some NPCs are easier to persuade than others based on race and whatnot, but still..I've gone through entire mana pools trying to just get normal buffs. (Which consists of 3.) You really can't buff a bard to absurd levels anymore with the removal of priest NPC's having religious spells, which means no more bards running around with armor, shield, bless / prayer, sadal spell, etc. This kinda really kills a lot of the spells utility in which it was meant for a bard to survive. We all know how squishy they are in front row after all..

Is your persuade skill mastered? Until it is, the fail rate will be almost triple what it is at mastered.

I'm not saying that the failure rate isn't ridiculously high even at mastered, but skill mastery is all-important for bards.

Persuade needs to be reworked in a big way, particularly so that it actually has some use in PvP. As it stands now, the chance of failure is way too high.

I am all for some buffs to persuade (e.g., it should work on GMs, it should probably be less costly), but disagree on the idea that persuade not be affected by enchantments. The system Trag is requesting (e.g., giants having less willpower than gnomes) is already in place the way the willpower save works.

I'm on the fence bout the part about not being an aggressive action. I see the reasoning behind it for buffs, but it might be overpowering for the use of persuade to initiate PK. Is a bard currently legally responsible for actions of others initiated by persuade the way a charmer is with his charmee?
