Please ask your usually assumed sk myth questions here and debate the truth. My myth is this. Songs of magic helps enchanting. I think its false, what do you think? |

Ive always hear mixed stories about what helps enchanting. Id like to know an answer to that one too. My one, I actually follow is to do with enchanting aswell. If you keep your ME over 50% while enchanting, enchants are more likely to stick also. |

High wisdom helps with fist skillset. Can anyone confirm/deny that? High charisma helps with hammer skillset. I know a lot of people swear to this. Have there been actual tests? Where does this idea come from? |

As for my own myth, how about the good old "magical resizing affects the enchantability of the item." Not to be topped by "Continual light counts as an enchantment against the item," which I actually believe to be in the opposite direction of the truth. |

Anecdotal evidence from my experience says it's true, but I've never run any conclusive testing on that and haven't played a character with enchant in years. The whole enchant system needs to be made more predictable. |

Ehh songs of magic seemed to help enchanting to me, significantly better results but probably not enough testing to say its beyond randomness. |

Cool thread. Here's some questions (some of them I know the answers to): 1) If you shrink yourself do you become harder to hit? 2) Does intelligence help with scribing? 3) Does wisdom help with brewing? 4) Is a point in dex/con/wis equivalent in terms of its effect on saving throws as an enchant in reflex/fort/will respectively? 5) Same question but wis/con vs trained me/hp 6) Does handedness have anything to do with disarm success rate? 7) Does skill in your opponent's weapon affect your ability to disarm them? To parry them? Does intelligence on the caster affect spell damage? 9) Is the probability of skill/spell improvement higher on failures than successes? 10) Do higher quality vials/scrolls increase the success rate of brewing/scribing? If not, is there a different characteristic that makes some vials/scrolls easier to imbue than others? |

If you keep your ME over 50% while enchanting, enchants are more likely to stick also. After having played a priest for three years and spent a god awful amount of time enchanting, I would believe this to be true. I've probably got proof in my logs somewhere, but I am not sifting through 2700 + hours to find enough. Also, not that this necessarily means anything of hard proof, but there is an IC book in the game that alludes to this same idea. My card catalog is on the dead laptop though, so I do not recall exactly which book says this. I'd be willing to test this theory out but I do not currently have a character of the proper class for enchanting. My sort of addendum/question also regards enchanting. When you do the enchants, you've got slight=1 mod = 2/3 and great = 4+. If you've got a piece with mod fort and mod reflex and you add another enchantment and you still have mod fort and mod reflex, I had always assumed there was no way to know where it went. But I started to notice that on some items, the order of the enchantments would change. So where it originally said something like "Moderate enhancment to fort. Moderate enchancement to reflex." it would change to have reflex first and fort second. I think that shows where the enchantment went. Has anyone else noticed this? It doesn't happen all the time. But I swear I am not crazy. well not about this anyway. |
