Since larger weapons do more damage why don't they move slower? Why can a hasted giant get the same number of attacks with a huge weapon that a hasted dwarf gets with the same small sized weapon? I understand larger weapons should hurt more, but they should also be harder to move.

That is this nice thing about a fantasy game. Not everything has to make sense.

I do not think this needs to be changed. There are enough pros and cons from rolling big and small.

Weapon speed is determine by the type of weapon. On average, weapons that are designed to be large in relation to their wielder ARE slower than smaller weapons. And if you use a weapon that is not sized properly to your character, there is a penalty for that as well.

Then is there anadvantage to using a smaller sized weapon to offset larger sized weapon bonuses/minuses?

The inverse to what I just said: Weapons that are designed to be small in relation to their wielder have faster weapon speeds and you swing with them more often.

Size matters, and the bigger the better.

Back when I ran Galida, everyone believed that. Everyone always had that next-size-up weapon. Sprites used small weapons, dorfs used average, giants used huge. I think basically everyone believed that extra size meant more damage dealt. And back then, maybe it did.

With today's code, I'm wondering if I, as a human, had a choice between a small-size claymore and a large-size claymore, if there is any difference in the damage I can do with either one. There have been times when my char was just starting out and had no coin or had weapons that couldn't be resized without a sorc I didn't know. T'would be interesting to know for future reference.

No matter how poor you are, you should never use a weapon that is not the right size for you. It is a massive waste of time.

What I don't know for sure is whether having your character enlarged to use a bigger weapon is useful anymore. I think Dulrik changed it so that is not the case anymore, but I'm not sure.
