I was wondering something. Since, certain kingdoms and individuals believe that griffons should be slaves. Would it be inappropriate to make a griffon that is a slave to a darkie char? Therefore, essentially doing darkie actions because he is ordered to? Guess, not just griffons but this would also apply to elves.

My initial response:

Quote:
This is appropriate to some extent, but lots of things would have to be premeditated.

For instance, a griffon can't actually roll in the Empire, Teron or the North. The slave should be taken by an already established character that knew the language of the griffon's home and could arrange ICly for citizenship to be shuffled.

It would be interesting, but very restrictive. I'd not really like to play a character that was wholly dependent on the play of another. What does a slave character do while master is away?

My amended response:

Quote:
This would have to be undertaken by very a strong RPer who can tow his or her alignment while subjugating himself to a clearly evil master. You can't just . . . do evil and claim that it's OK because you're a slave. That won't fly. Griffons and elves are inherently good. That's a hard line to walk, and I'm not sure that I'd want to approach it personally.

Theoretically, it's common sense that this would be happening in the land of Pyrathia.

As far as PCs go, you will find yourself the center of constant curses from IMMs and whining from other players.

I've seen the players of elves get cursed for being tricked into something minor by a deep-elf. Let alone RPing out slavery.

Suffice to say that this character concept would not get far.

I've tried it and seen it tried. It never works out.

Like I said, this was just floating around in my head. If rping a slave to someone else, following their orders, would get lots of IMM slaps, then it isn't worth thinking any more than that. I just remember there was a time that you can actually buy a slave at the Chancel, and wondered if it would be acceptable as a PC, because obviously those npc's are lighties but are doing darkie actions.

Evena, you are correct, in that the rp would have to be good and would have to be rped very, very well to not get IMM slapped. In terms of when the 'master' is away, there can just be outstanding instructions and because they have been so enthralled by their 'master' that they blindly following it (unless they are immune from Stockholm syndrome due to their nature).

Player characters on SK are exceptional individuals with the capability to be movers and shakers of the realms. Any slave that is currently subjugated is not in that strata where theoretical characters and player characters intersect.

But we are supposed to treat the NPCs as if they are pc's right?

Sure, but it would be pretty boring to sit at the gates of Sith'a'niel all day waiting for people so you could say "Welcome to Sith'a'niel!"

You could do the slave rp as a griffon or an elf. You would have to be a servant slave that didn't participate in pvp though. A menial creature that brings food and cleans the keep type stuff.

Most people try to take a lightie pc as a slave, and immediately start trying to force them to do things to break alignment. Being a slave doesn't mean you carry out evil acts. Being a slave means you have no worth and are given the most menial tasks that free people are above doing. Inherently good characters with a static alignment, would not try to do evil acts, rather when forced to do that, they should choose to suffer or die.

So, unless you are REALLY into subterfuge, playing a housekeeping slave could be really boring.

Just my two cents.

Well, here's the thing. If you are to the point where you have stockholm syndrome, are you truly going against your alignment or is it more of a non-magical charm?
