I'm sure this will be thrown out with the bathwater, but . . . How about ill effects like plague, poison, blindness and their ilk be put on a slow-recovery system for characters that are logged out, much like jail time ticks off while a character is not actively sitting in a jail cell? Hmmm? Please? |

Does this mean you could log back in and find yourself dead, since some chars do end up dying from plague and poison? |

It's nice that you've never been in a situation where it wasn't that easy, nxs, but it's not always possible to avoid death by plague or poison. I currently play a priestess, so it's not really about me and my conditions. I was thinking about something that would be beneficial to lowbie/newbie players who might not know anyone to ask for help, those who play during off-peak hours and others that typically fall into the 'we don't give a damn' categories. Silly me. |

Most newbie areas have healers that will fix these conditions, and for the most part nothing causes poison/plague around newbie areas. I suspect that most people can do something like "help plague" to find out that it's something that is curable. By the way, my very first character died to plague. |

You can catch the plague from having a low constitution and drinking from a river. The Ayamaoan outpost has trolls whose severed flesh will poison you. |

And, while there are healers in most areas, it's not always possible to reach them before you're drained of PE. And mana is not always available to call for help. Nah. You're right, nxs. Screw 'em. Kill 'em. Or make 'em go OOC to find help on YIM. |

Or they could learn early that drinking from uncultivated water sources or eating raw troll limbs isn't a great idea, and thus experience part of what makes SK cool: The realism. Personally, while this isn't an axiom that can obviously be followed all the time, I think this idea goes way too far in rewarding people for logging out. |

Lets take the caves by morea, the rats can poison you, and chances are that by the time you get back to the surface, you are out of pe or dead due to lurkers and worms. |
