After seeing a rocking chair. Would it be possible to actually code it so we can actually sit in the furniture so that others can see it? Not high priority, but would just be cool!

To be able to sit in chairs, couches etc has always been on my wish list.

Should be possible. I know on a couple of other muds that I have built for, there is a flag for it. Number of spots available on it, weight limit, size. It usually depends on the builder on how detailed they want to make each piece.

I would see it as a copy and tweak to the riding code. Remove the must be following, change the desc of the 'riding' to whatever the coder puts it. It would at least work for single person objects at least.

I've always thought this would be a great implement, but at the same time we could just not be lazy and use emotes and actions. ;)

What she said. No point for such code when the action command exists. Just emote it before you set the action. Though a nice addition to the action command would be a flag you can set where the action is reset when you move out of the room.

Action alters your action description, which is what people see when they look in the room while you are standing.

"sit" is a special command, with very little use outside of emoting. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.) That is, like "rest" etc, sitting alters your physical position, thus setting a flag. Unlike "rest" (or "sleep") it does NOT increase your regen rate. Therefore it is useless, except for emoting sitting down, and setting a flag that also alters your action description (so-and-so is sitting here.) I wonder if there is a way then to add to the "sit" code so that it can be given an argument to add to the action change...

> sit on the chair

So-and-so is sitting on the chair here.

Something like that.

Sitting gives you a concentration bonus.
