Shouldn't being drunk hinder your abilities to fight, lease give you a decrease on chance to hit? Also how come tells are not affected by the drunkness yet when you talk normallly you can tell someone has been drinking?

 o Affect: 'drunk' - penalty to weapon damage                    o
 o Affect: 'drunk' - penalty to probability to hit               o


Of course I can see a dwarf not getting this affect, but perhaps a bonus to it?

Frenzied/berserked should give a bonus to damage while drunk, at a cost of missing more often, as well.

I always imagined it like, you can't speak straight, but tells are thoughts so you don't really slur your thoughts.

Also, I would gladly trade the slurred speech for some penalty while drunk. But not both, it's already annoying enough as it is. I like to arpee drinking but I hate the slurring. It is unrealistic and it ruins any attempt at serious rp.

So get creative. Emote takes a large swig of beer is perfectly allowed if you'd like your char to be a tank who never shows drunkenness.

I actually did start doing that. But still, it's such a crappy affect and nobody likes it and we should replace it with something else. :p

I've seen these soldiers. Trust me, being drunk does NOT impede fighting ability at first. You have to be REAL hammered before that starts.

But on topic, don't mess with my drunk damn it. An improvement would be not getting drunk with the first sip but on the 4th or 5th or setting some timer to avoid getting drunk entirely if you drink slow enough. Right now you have to emote drinking to avoid getting hammered immediately. There is no point to a drunk penalty in fighting unless there is some advantage across the board as well. As it stands now, drunkenness is only an RP effect and nothing more.

A documented modern usage of being hammered in "battle" was by the Einsatzgruppen, but that use can't really be coded and I don't want to see that in the game anyway.

There already is a penalty in some cases. Try entering Sith'a'niel when drunk.
