As a centaur, I find myself completely bewildered about the fact that the weight of your rider is utterly irrelevant. Logically, if I'm at: 347.0 of 475.0 pounds.. even an unarmored human of average weight would overburden me the the point of being unable to move. Put a giant up there, or someone with full armor and my back would break immediately. I honestly can't see the logic in anything but penalties for someone fighting while bearing such a load. Surely a trained warhorse is burdened by his rider and would fight better if he didn't bear so much weight. I see lots of benefits for the rider, and NONE for the one being ridden. My rational mind revolts! |

I'm not sure why you are asking for penalties. Sure, they make sense, but . . . This is a feature that is supposed to enhance combat strategy and encourage cooperation. Penalties would make the mountable aspect of PCs completely worthless in 90 percent of cases. Does what you're saying make sense? Absolutely? Do I want to see it changed? Please, no. |

I never claimed I LIKED the idea but it DOES make sense. |

It's fantasy. In the words of Samuel Taylor Coleridge you need to have, "a willing suspension of disbelief." It is the reason fiction can work. |

You used to be able to dig without them. Then, one day, a realism thread like this one popped up. |

Griffons and Sprites shouldn't be able to fly if they are over half of their carrying capacity. |

I'd like to jokingly demand the abolition of all magic and the elimination of all non-human races, as they all defy logic. But seriously, it's going to take me a few posts like this before I figure out how things are supposed to be, and what manner of things should be posted, and what shouldn't be. Thanks to all for your patience. |
