Im trying to figure out some stuff to do to improve the game for players around me.

Im not a PKer. Although I do participate when it happens because its a part of the game. When I can justify it ICly. The enchanting business is always busy due to it so I help people out there.
I do enjoy leading some PvE adventures so I try to keep active on those which I would like to think others appreciate. I like to keep a level of knowledge not on hand about everything I do to at least leave the edge of excitement and adventure for all on my adventures.

However I feel I could be doing more, to enhance the game for others and myself. At the moment Im thinking crazy quests for lowbies. Something like pay X amount per Y item. Hopefully I can get some fun simple quest based RP happening. My idea is to convince people to stop and say Hi to one another before they reach Mentor status. Anyone else with some cool ideas feel free to post them or shoot me a PM. The second end to the crazy quest idea may be trying to enlist some Imm aid set down some rules for a player run quest lines.

If anyone has any other ideas let us know.

PS: Thank you SK for your limiting of junk looting in PK. I know it still happens but its nice that at least a few people have taken a much more casual stance on the idea. Just remember if you didnt get Jlooted it means you probably shouldnt abuse that by trying to get revenge kills as soon as you stand back up.

I think it depends on what class you play. You can always RP your balls off, but priests and sorcerors are the most useful classes to other people. People actually depend on those classes for many things, so with that being said I think that's the best way to improve the game for all: Play those classes.

If you're looking to improve the game for others as your primary method of enjoyment, the biggest part of that is determining what makes the game fun for others.

An old psychology paper written by a guy named Richard Bartle resulted in the "Bartle test of Gamer Psychology" that separated gamers into four groups: Achievers, Explorers, Socializers and Killers. The basic idea of the test is that the main draws of multiplayer online games chiefly fall into one of these four categories, and as such any given player probably enjoys one or two over the others.

The funny thing about SK is that, like most online games, there are players all across the spectrum, but unlike other online games there is absolutely nothing separating them: Meaning that it's up to you to determine what actions will benefit certain players the most. If you find yourself often hanging out with a crowd that likes to explore new areas, then you may wish to explore areas yourself to point them in fun places to go, or travel with them as they explore new areas (And make sure not to ruin any area they've never seen before by giving them all the answers unless they want them). If you find yourself around players who greatly enjoy the social aspect of RP, then putting a lot of depth into your character backstory, description and in-character actions such as says and emotes will increase their gaming experience. Should you run into a handful of players who enjoy pitting themselves against challenges, especially ones that few players of SK accomplish such as traveling through a dangerous dungeon or accomplishing quests with minimal resources, then learning the mechanics of your character inside and out so that you can be extremely effective in engagements will make the experience more fun for them, especially if you can challenge them to a higher caliber of skill in their own characters. Lastly, you may hang around with people who primarily enjoy establishing themselves as PK juggernauts, and the best ways you can enhance their gaming experience might be to help them prepare for high-level PK engagements through enchanting, brewing or EQ gathering, or directly assisting them in high-end PvP as well.

It's worthy of noting that very few players only enjoy one specific aspect of SK, however, and in my opinion it's the blending of all of these elements that make SK a unique enjoyable experience, yet also what limit its playerbase to such a small number. Either way, it's all but guaranteed that it's nigh impossible to improve the game experience for everyone simultaneously, although if you play a character that enjoys to explore, has great character depth, and carries an in-depth knowledge of mechanics and can keep a cool head in challenging PvE and PvP engagements, then I can't think of many people who won't enjoy having you around. Slayne, Dago and Aldric come to mind for me, specifically, when I consider players and characters who exhibited all of these traits.

Edoras, I believe that this may have been the smartest thing I have ever seen posted on these forums. Kudos

awwww . . . I love you, too, Eddy!

I think Rorey was my most successful character in terms of improving everyone's game experience, though.

Turon more so, imo.

EDIT: This could be because I was in the same faction as Turon at one point, and thus had much more interaction with him.
