I know this is going to be dismissed as whining, but whatever.

Etherealform is simply too powerful. Let me rephrase that. Spells that affect planes outside of the ethereal plane are too powerful. Simply put, a sorc can now stack massive amounts of MR and be entirely safe from voodoo and everything else except another sorc or someone with access to ethereal. MI in conjunction with etherealform and recall vials give them an option that ensures they are -entirely- safe and just about nothing, save someone with an ethereal wand / true sight can actually kill them.

On top of that, when they can summon someone or dispel a target from the safety of the ethereal plane, you can see where warriors are entirely screwed in this set up, especially vs a competent sorc that can hold ethereal + charm and support their charmie by spam dispelling the target fighting their minion. Simply put, etherealform needs to be wimped a bit in the fact that it needs to make -all- spells go through the target. If they want to summon or dispel someone, they should make themselves vulnerable to some extent.

They already have some of the best defensive capabilities with mirror image and charm. They can afford to eat a small wimp or so.

It sounds to me that your true complain is that other spells work on people from an ethereal sorc, and instead of asking those other spells to be tweaked, you're taking a jab at nerfing etherealform.

While I can see myself agreeing on your other spells argument, I think that Etherealform needs no further tweaking. Nerf- or Buff-wise.

That, right there, is a very wrong logic. "XYZ class can already do ABC, they can afford without DEF". Wrong. What a class already CAN do, should not be a determining factor on whether they afford to be wimped or buffed. Nerfs and buffs come in terms of balance among classes, not based on how many stuff a class can do on its own compared to some invisible metric to see if they afford buffs or nerfs.

For reference, I don't currently play a class that can cast or use scrolls/wands to go ethereal. With that out of the way, etherealform is fine. This is clearly an L2P issue.

Don't you play a warlock? You play a class that can not only go ethereal, but can completely bypass MR with magma spray. And didn't you play a sorcerer before that? I seem to recall you being ethereal with mirror images up every time I saw your character - LOL.

Yeah, I did. And that's exactly part of the reason of what made me make this thread. Etherealform is an absolute safety net, especially for sorcs or necros with MI up.

The thing is, you should not be able to dispel or summon people WHILE ethereal. It's not an issue of l2p, it's an issue that you can literally do absolutely nothing to harm the sorc unless you have both a truesight potion AND a means to etherealform. Now, I may be a noob but I do know that truesight is pretty damn rare and there is only 1 quest I know of that actually gives you access to it and only one time since it can't be brewed, not that a lightie would brew etherealform for a darkie anyways.

No, the issue is the fact that they can summon / dispel stuff while ethereal with absolute zero risk.

Actually, it's not. I'm not asking for them to lose etherealform. I'm asking for them to lose the capability of participating in combat while ethereal when no one without the etherwire + a truesight potion can harm them. A sorc already has defensive measures and with impairment and the enchantment changes, saves have gotten a bit harder to attain meaning they've already eaten another buff with that. The fact that dispel has an impairment, unless I'm wrong on this, means they can spam it while ethereal as it has a very short cast time, while impairing the willpower of the target dramatically.

Ethereal spells should only affect ethereal targets, period. There should be no safety net that allows them to participate in combat while remaining nearly 100% safe from its repercussions. Saves don't matter when you can't actively harm the target trying to dispel you repeatedly.

If only there were a way to counter an ethereal sorcerer. Guess he wins SK.

Kin, sorcs only summon people who are mindless enough to keep auto summon off. If a sorc is ethereal they're a nuisance, at best. There are so many classes that can go ethereal to neutralize sorcerors but so many of them don't bother to. This is a player issue in my opinion and doesn't warrant any sort of wimping.

The funny thing is that he's a fist MR sorc, meaning that any other caster who goes ethereal is going to get rocked by him and there's no way to force him out of etherealform.

The thing about ethereal form. Powerful against those who arnt going ethereal ... makes you incredibly vulnerable to anyone who can go ethereal. No group is a very very bad place to be as a sorceror in combat lasted I checked. Im not going to list of all the things I remember from 5 years ago that can make you go ethereal I havent checked up on all of them but seriously ethereal form double edged sword.

Aside from a single etherealform item, the only combat capable classes that can go ethereal are rogues and bards, and an MR Fist Sorc can easily handle those in the ethereal plane, especially now that sorcs have access to GM level GS and haste for free.

I'm not whining about it, just saying that the options are a lot more limited than you think: This character has been around for a long long time, and only in light of recent changes has seen PK because recent changes have made his character impossible to kill without a perfect storm.

Are you saying there's been a change where you don't get fatigue off self-cast spells? I've been away, so sorry if I missed it.
