(3pm sun is still up and I have infravision) A Blackened Clearing You are standing in a blackened clearing. The smell of acrid pffffff smoke assaults your lungs, and a haze of fine grey ash hangs in fff*fff the air. Charred spikes are all that remain of what must have fffffff once been dense forest, looming here and there in eerie silence. Craters from the explosion of tree roots pit the ground. A layer of soot pads your footsteps, contributing to the oppressive and somehow unsettled quiet of the place. A single tiny coniferous shoot, no taller than a sprite, sprouts here defiantly. It's raining lightly, mild, and windy. Obvious exits: n e s w nw ne sw se A feline stalks here. An elven archer is here guarding the forest. A silver-winged pegasus soars in from the west. [HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE: 49%] > w You soar west. Selkwood Slender trees with a silvery bark grow tall here, their wide ppfffff crowns adorned with leaves ranging in hue from pale green to pure fff*fff white. Its branches reach upward towards the sky, swaying pffffff gracefully as the wind ruffles them and sends flurries of dry leaves down to towards the forest floor. In between the trees, numerous starfalls grow, their silky star-shaped crowns peeking up through the fallen leaves and grass. It's raining lightly, mild, and windy. Obvious exits: n e s w nw ne sw se Something skulks around in the shadows. A silver-winged pegasus soars in from the east. [HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE: 46%] > l e You see A Blackened Clearing. As you can see, I cannot see anyone to the east. I'd like to propose a new utility skill to scouts. It would enable the scout to see NPCs one room over either day or night, so long as they have infravision for the dark hours of the day. Any thoughts on this? I feel it meshes well with the class and would prove valuable in terms of navigating certain areas. |

I think their "scouting" ability is camouflage. They can sneak into a room camouflaged, figure out what's there, and sneak back. Even so, I would approve of this minor buff to scouts. |

I wouldn't really mind if this was changed for everyone, not just scouts. Still, I can kind of see the justification for infravision being short-range only. |

Perhaps make it so you see "something(s)" to the east. |

If memory serves, an outdoor room on SK is one league - approximately 3.5 miles. It doesn't make sense for any class, without magic being involved, to be able to look into adjacent rooms outdoors. |

A ship traveling one "league" (about 3 miles) has reached what was previously the farthest visible distance on the horizon. I see your point in not being able to distinguish 'what' is there, but perhaps it could be like what Rodwen was saying, being able to see 'somethings' or 'someones' in the other adjacent wilderness rooms. |

That may be true, but it would seem that Pyrathia is flat. Ergo, there would be no horizon in that sense. Also, that's human beings. Griffons and sprtes can fly and could see farther. Giants, minotaurs, and centaurs are taller than humans and could see farther. All that said, 'observation' could be a skill for scouts. Everyone else could see "something" or "someone," but scouts could see who they are with a successful skill check. That would be an interesting adjustment, though I would hardly qualify this as a top priority issue. |

Rogues would also need to recieve that same skill, Styles, as they use bows, and skirmish as well. In order to skirmish properly, you would need to be able to observe like a scout to see those things the said rogue would be shooting at. |

Then mercs also need it, for they can learn to use bows and skirmish. |

Last thing mercs need is a buff... still don't know why they need skirmish. |
