Post subject:  How to avoid loyalty token subtractions for bad RP

Thread to have ambivalence discussed and answered.

1. If I play a lightie/darkie and am leveling in Tlaxcala and kill same-aura priests, is that punishable?

2. If I am a zealous lightie/darkie, can I justify killing characters I have never met, spoken to, or otherwise know anything about just because they are elven/delven/light/dark/hammer/cruxie? Similarly, using religion as a reason to PK. EX: a giant rogue of Dabi that backstabs everyone because he is supposed to destroy everything. EX2. A barbarian of Alshain that goes around killing darkies without rhyme or reason, other than because his God told him to.

3. Aghelian-only speaking character meets Sylvan-only speaking character in the Chancel. They use emotes to communicate "hey, want to team up?". They train together to bank off group xp bonus but know that the other is dark/light and will probably be pking each other in a week or two. Bad?

---

Personally I think darkies get away with a lot of poo because of how "evil" people are perceived to act. Lots of cases where darkies have fought one another, not so much of lighties doing that. Xcept that griffbarb that knocked down the Hammer with a group of crucies.

Did you seriously make a thread complaining about how darkies can kill each other but lighties can't?

Meissa wrote:
For disregarding alignment/aura for the sake of power leveling a character: status reduction (5 levels), 100 tokens
(note: The staff has determined that the minimum punishment for this offense is to be three levels and 10 loyalty points.)

I can only assume the Meissa quote is referencing a third party helping another character to power level, with the the character they are helping not being an appropriate alignment. Otherwise, it seems completely unnecessary.

An evil aligned character can hunt any alignment NPC (IMO), but if they want bonus experience they should obivously hunt good aligned NPCs whenever possible. A good aligned character should probably hunt evil NPCs exclusively, since not only do they get bonus experience but they get no experience at all for killing a good aligned NPC. Good characters killing selfish aligned NPCs depends on the situation - don't think it would be curse worthy in very many instances, if ever.

Outside of alignment issues with a third party helping another character to level (or power level - is there really a difference?), the code already does a pretty good job to make certain that characters hunt alignment appropriate NPCs.

Not complaining at all, Edoras. I've been a part of both. Just curious if it would be punishable if the imms got wind of such a thing. In the same vein, a Paladin of Dulrik that executes a light-aura character for lying.

Yes, you are going to get cursed no matter how valid the justification - I speak from experience. You are supposed to correct their behavior by non-lethal means - go to other good-aligned character's high follower, high priest, cabal or tribunal leader and see if peer pressure works.

If that doesn't work, report (via logs) the behavior to the staff and let them deal with it. It is really frustrating to deal with this sort of situation, especially when you get a good aligned character that is the leader of a faction that plays like he is unprincipled or anarchist.

A good aligned character that plays as an anarchist would get punished now, would he not? By imms that is.

Eventually.

Meanwhile, the rest of the good guys have to deal with the frustration it creates (or in my case, kill him and eat a big, fat curse for it. I won't lie, it was very satisfying - lol).

For lighties, a couple of areas that are common to level that have mixed auras that unless you have access to detect aura/detect alignment is that a cursable offense?

I agree; areas like Tlaxacala should have light-auraed mages on one side and dark auraed mages on the other. I can't think of any other areas like this.

Also, lighties have request. Darkies and greybies can kill each other.
