Post subject:  Loyalty tokens suck

This is just one more thing to give veterans power over newcomers in an already newbie-hostile game, but this time it's hard-coded.

If we want to open up new race-class options, we should open them up. If we don't, we shouldn't.

Who else thinks this is nepotism?

Anjin.....you should be in a straight jacket so you cannot type. I am thoroughly enjoying the loyalty token feature. It has given the game new flavor. And if you want to play that Marfik look alike barbarian sprite, you play long enough you get rewarded by making that special snowflake char.
I love my Giant Swashbuckler. I am having a lot of lucky kills with him, however he is still vunerable to other warriors. Sprite priests are fun in heavy armor. And Loling at sprite mercs is awesome.

Okay, I agree all of those things are fun.

Why do I have to earn 'loyalty' to make a sprite barbarian or a giant swashbuckler? Why shouldn't we have equal access to these combinations?

Everyone has access to those combinations. Why should you get Snowflake rp chars without snowflake Rp....Its a pat on the back when you run around with a giant rogue or sprite barbarian. It means that you RP and that the person has earned his stripes

Well, I believe the basic Idea behind loyalty token requirements is to keep that Barbarian sprite a rare thing (and i would love to see a giant rogue duel backstab a barbarian sprite). If anyone could roll anything, then nothing becomes rare. I also see it as a carrot for better RP.

I seriously see nothing wrong with loyalty tokens and see a ton of great things. If big D makes a change, the only change I can see acceptable (right now) would be to prevent loyalty token from being accumulated from these special snowflake characters.

Your premise that this gives veterans power and makes the game less newbie friendly is flawed.

The benefit provided by loyalty characters is variety not power. If you want to make a case that any of the options offered are overpowered, and I agree with your logical arguments, that combination will likely be removed.

in addition, the things that earn you loyalty points are all actions that make the game a more enjoyable experience -- especially for newbies (mentoring). Therefore the loyalty token system actually promotes newbie friendliness.

It was bound to happen though, some spoiled brat yelling "That's not fair! I should get everything for nothing!"
