With all these talks about alignment and enmity. I keep thinking one thing. How long does it take you to let bygones be bygones. Given a day RL is a month game time. A week RL is a year IC. How long do you hold a grudge? Do transgressions become distant past? Clearly there are some interactions that will never be lived down but how bad do they need to be? If someone does something to seek parole/forgiveness how long do you think it should last and how long are you suspicious of them? Something else Ive been thinking how long is too long between attacks in a war? How long is too short on an OOC level? My personal feelings on my current grey aura. Hold a grudge "as long as the judge" of his nation. Anything minor once they have served their times. Something worse than minor once they have served time plus a week real time. What is a "unforgivable" transgression something that happens either every day for a week or something worse than a minor inconvenience that happens every week for a month. Personally I feel a war should have something happening every second week else it isnt really a war. How long is too short, unless you can see they have recovered quickly then I feel that more than two battles on the offensive in 4 hours on the same subject is kind of going over board. That means if they attack you as well that puts you in about a battle an hour for 4 hours then break off the engagement for a significant time probably 2 to 4 hours so in most situations this will be till the next day accept for maybe weekends of play. |

I have been told that it is not against the rules to neither forget nor forgive. Furthermore, I have been informed that diametrically opposed alignments don't need to be affronted to be offended with one another. Not to troll or muck rake, but this kind of thing should be in plain sight; there is no hard definition of when in-character harassment violates the golden rule if alignment supports it, nor is there a hard definition of when in-character harassment counts as harassment as forbidden under the Terms of Service. Common sense prevails. "PK into deletion" is against no current rule nor have I heard that it has been punished. There's more drama, but all I will say is that there is more drama. I could be misunderstanding the situation. In honesty, I hope I am, and really hope someone corrects me. |

It is equally valid to have a character that forgives eventually, given XYZ conditions are met, as it is to have a character that never forgives. It is not and should not be a matter of official policy from the staff; it's a personal RP choice and will vary from character to character. |

Good point. OA highlights the silver lining to the clouds I'm obsessed with of late. If there's no hard rule, it means you can be as nice as you want.* Just don't automatically assume others return the favor. Honey or vinegar, your choice, but throw a grain of salt in there. * Barring other harder rules of course. |

I wouldn't mind if it was all IC, but I've had one player who outright refused to play with me, the player, based on past grudges and it totally ruins the game for me. (well, this is anecdotal and it only happened once.) And from the other side, there was a player I rather disliked and I found it difficult to play with him once I found out it was him, but I tried to let it go and play my character anyway. |
