Post subject:  Well Hi There, I'm Coming To Kill You.

[MODERATOR NOTE: MERGED CONVERSATION START]

I'd like to bring this up again and remind people that if you don't want to get involved in pk you shouldn't join cabal or factions.
I'd also like to point out that if you are aiding any of my enemies ie healing them with spells during pk, I will consider you an enemy as well whether you are an apprentice or GM. I'm not out to kill newbies or anything of that manner, but I would recommend that if you don't want to run the risk of getting killed, don't get involved.

I think when wert talked about "characters of consequence" he wasn't thinking about PVP logs. Keep that in mind as you add people to your hit list, and maybe it will all work out for everyone's enjoyment.

I think he's probably just sore he (probably) got a talking to for being recently involved in a pk that saw an apprentice-level character killed by his character. I happen to know, however, that the player of said apprentice-level character specifically stated that there was no harm or foul committed in the killing and unequivocally made it clear that no complaint was being issued when contacted by this imm. Doesn't seem like that was communicated during the talking to, so he thinks someone who asked to get ganked by their IC choices whined about it.

To be redacted: it may be best to give him the choice of revealing that much information or not?

I'm making a supposition based on the tone and content of his post, I don't know that it was actually him. However, I don't appreciate being painted as a complainer when I fully accepted the occurrence of the PK and made it clear when contacted and asked to explain the circumstances around it that I didn't consider it foul-play because I chose to involve myself in the event.

If the imms are going to take it on themselves to enforce a non-existent rule about lvl requirements for PK when both parties are active participants an a particular event, they should be making it clear it's their choice and not the result of a complaint.

On the bright side, they care up there?

It it's good that they care, if some GM is wandering around ganking uninvolved lowbies for no reason. However, if a lowbie knowingly throws themselves into a pk situation, and then clearly communicates that the kill was fair because of that choice of involvement, people shouldn't be getting smacked around or pulled aside. It was a clean kill, and deserved for the actions surrounding it and the choices by those involved, and none of the players involved wanted to make a case of it. That's an entirely different kettle of stew than imms looking out for hapless newbs or lowbies who some jackhole's having fun burying for no reason and easy ganks.

It sounds like an investigation verified what you said and nothing came of it, so as far as the immortals go... all's well that ends well? It sounds like you don't like the implications in forum drama?

Like I said, if an imm is going to take it upon themselves to question or pull aside someone for what is acknowledge by the deceased to be a clean-kill, they should be making it clear it's not the result of a complaint. More transparency is always better, and frankly, anyone who IS pulled aside in a situation like that would be justified in being upset if a complaint was issued against them for such a kill.

I suppose I'd have to agree. If there's a rule they know they'd curse you for breaking depending on how that interview went ... it would be good if we knew it too. Before we lost the chance to avoid breaking it.

Or perhaps calling it a "standard" instead of a rule would dispel the fear of limiting the long arm of the law through enumerated powers... I don't know.
