I had this idea a while back but never got around to posting it. I feel as though a lot of knowledge in the game has been lost or is not shared often. I feel that there needs to be a better way for rare/unique items to be discovered by new players. I just recently found out about the web shocker scales. I feel that is a prime example. So my idea is that each city should have a wiseman in the city center. The inns, perhaps. These wisemen have quests that yield 0 exp for completion but will allow you to learn how to do something interesting and unique in the game. I don't quite know what all the quests should be, as I am still fairly new IMO. (at least as far as rare weapons and such are concerned) I'll banter with anyone who posts on this and elaborate on my idea a bit. But what are everyone's initial thoughts? |

I'm not opposed to the idea. It actually does have some merit, in my own view, but it needs a bit of fleshing out to make it work. DOn |

Maybe even finding interesting locations. The shadow planes, the rip in the sky, or the underwater tower could be quests. And a simple item that one would find there could be returned to the wiseman as proof. Just more thoughts. |

I think there should be wisemen, but not just 1 in each inn. We should have 1 for each church, 1 in each cabal HQ etc... Each speaking about the history of wherever they happen to be. |

I have somewhere one of my lists of character ideas of a bard that explores countries and writes tour guides for them with information on (not-out-of-necessity-secret) places and reviews shops and NPCs on their stock and essential drops (under the guise of shopping and hunting advice.) Then hopefully RP it into being sold at Inns by convincing Tribunals that it's a great way to increase taxes from tourists. |

Players can do this sort of thing too if they want. |

They do. In YIM, and wikis, and other methods. They hoard knowledge. We hoard knowledge. |

I'm speaking from my own experiences. Sure, you'll get taken to the Temple of Murder, the tangle, be asked to hold a few things, turn a few dials, enchant the Red Dragon Shield or some random hellion's stuff in the middle of some goa'uld spaceship or something, but the actual information is wanting. Even you have left more than one explanation with a dubious "figure the rest out yourself." That being so, I suppose my actual point is that the existence of a few nice players doesn't really negate the benefits of having a system like this for when they're either offline or PVPing. |

At least one has also written some rather detailed and followable directions to a place. And I know the ability is there to write other things... maybe into books... Hint. Nudge. Having more areas like the treant near Sith'a'Niel out there to guide players to places to explore would be nice, though, I agree. |
