Okay, I am no rocket scientist or anything and I am quite a newb still here at Shattered Kingdoms, but I have seen something that is so obviously bug abuse and has continue to be ignored. Even from the Help Files, you should not be able to dispel anyone who is not ethereal while you are ethereal. So I was just wondering if it was common to let someone get away with bug abuse for this long of a period of time.

Quote:
help dispel magic
[Spells help] Magic Removal Spells

Syntax: cast 'dispel magic' <victim>
cast 'dispel magic' self (room dispel)
cast 'cancellation' <target>
cast 'remove compulsion' <target>

These spells all remove magic effects from the target, however the goal
of each spell is quite different.

Dispel magic is an offensive spell, and as such, the victim receives a
saving throw to avoid it. If the dispel is successful, each beneficial spell
effect has a chance of being destroyed. Harmful spells are untouched by
dispel. You may also attempt to dispel spells that are affecting the area
around you such as gates, rifts, or other affects in a given room. To do
this you must cast the spell ON YOURSELF. You will not actually affect any
spells that are upon your person - the dispel will hit the room instead.

Quote:
[Spells help] etherealform
Syntax: cast 'etherealform'

Etherealform enables the caster to become immaterial and enter the ethereal
plane. Because the ethereal plane coexists with the real world, the mage can
see and move about as normal. However, the mage can also move through some
doors and even some walls as if they were not even there. A mage can also
not be attacked or affected by anything while on the ethereal plane, except
by another mage who is also ethereal. Of course, the mage can not affect the
real world either.

Oh... Unfortunately, right now it isn't a bug, it is a 'feature.'

Can you show me where it states that? I am utterly confused if this game allows bug abuse to be features.

It doesn't state it anywhere, if anything the 'bug' would be the typo in the help files. It has been like this for a long time, seems that D is on the side (as of this writing) that dispel works while you are ethereal or not. Most of the pbase has been trying to get that decision reversed.

So did Dulrik say at some point it is not bug abuse? Or who has given everyone the thought that it is a feature?

Yes he has, and the reason it works this way is so that non-ethereal casters can dispel etherealform on those who have it active.

I understand that, but the fact of the matter is, dispel is aggressive, so if you cast it, it should bring you out of etherealform, or you should not be able to cast it on someone who is not ethereal.

Learning to appreciate things like these as "tactics" and not "bugs" is the mark of graduation from newbie status here in Shattered Kingdoms. I hope you continue to enjoy your experiences, Vhrael.

I would enjoy the game a bit more if people were not able to avoid death altogether by using bug abuse. :/
