Post subject:  Bloodpath: Observations

Okay, so we introduced Bloodpath to the game this weekend. It is, effectively, Mafia, a game which with many people are familiar. I'd like to post my observations from the perspective as an IMM, and I would like to hear yours. Despite some snags, I think that both events were generally successful. Thank you to those that were able and willing to participate. I hope that we may have more participants next time.

Sadal and I have been discussing doing this for months and have been very excited about the idea of it. Literally, I think we started talking about this in May, but there were some things we did not forsee. These include:

* The broadcast NPC in the mists (dead holding area) stopped working after every death and subsequent transfer into the room. I will have to see why this happens and apologize to the viewers who got silenced.

* People used tells, group tells, and faction talk to essentially cheat during the frist game. This, to me, was unbelievable. It stemmed from the fact that people are refusing to make their characters roleplay the Bloodpath game. Yes, your character is Wizard McWonderful, Champion of the Ninth sea in SK, but during the mafia game, nobody's race, title, IC friendships or any other factors matter. We make a list of everyone in attendance and roll a die. Anyone could be on the Bloodpath, and it is in keeping with the spirit of this game that your character should play along with that notion. A game within a game; a dream within a dream, if you will.

* The masks that were requested after the first game served only to be a headache in the second. Until we can butter Dulrik up to update the code (we heart you!), we will not be able to truly hide who's who. We will encourage the embrace of suspension of disbelief in the meanwhile and thank you in advance for your cooperation.

We wish to continue hosting Mafia/Bloodpath games for your enjoyment (and, honestly, ours). Please help us by relaying your gripes and/or praises for the remainder of this thread.

I thought overall you guys did a pretty good job during this Bonanaza and thank you for sinking in time to make the game more enjoyable for the rest of us.

Also boo for having the first person to be murdered and hung in each game. Why no one like Cylan? :(

I thought bloodpath would have something to do with Dabi.

It was a play on the Adepts.

I miss the adepts, I wish changing them to the crucible would of fixed them sucking for fighters

From my observations I think suspension of disbelief was a bit difficult for some during the first game. We got a little better at it the second game but that required some thumping. It was all in all a lot of fun and I super appreciate the work and effort you guys did in trying to set up the game.

Now that it's been played and no one actually died, perhaps next time we'll have more players. I know some of the lighties didn't want anything to do with a game that was hosted by a darkie, and I appreciate Cylan for trying to help Sio sort that out. Word of mouth is going to go a long way to make it more populous icly and maybe letting people know it could take longer than the time they have.

The masks while they would work, it'd be nice if the imms had a way to blanket people's race (poor Kondo, masks don't work for minos).
And perhaps giving the masks prior to entry.

I attempted to show (tirelessly stubborn) Gailehn IC that it wasn't actually Sio's game and that it was harmless .... I should have picked a more yielding target instead of just the noisiest opponent of the event. Or, next time, I will just threaten him with death by daemon claws as I had briefly considered.
