Hello, It's me Orac. I play a bard. I was wondering if you are no longer able to get people to use potions with persuade by design or if it's a mistake.

I remember you used to be able to plant vials on people and persuade them to quaff them. You can still do that but you can't any affect from the vials because the persuaded people are treated like they are charmed and they don't work.

It's very upsetting. It was a lot of fun to play around with this stuff. So can I ask this? Are we supposed not get any affect from persuading people to quaff potions or is that a bug related to the charm changes?

Um. Well~Okay! There are probably a million reasons not to restore that skill to it's previous potency. Especially considering the suggested used it was used for (drinking slipped potions). Smoochy can think of at least five off the top of that list.

I can't recall making any change about this -- certainly nothing recently. If it's been like this for a long time, it's possible it was deliberate.

Thing is no one has really played around with persuade over the last bit. I do know that when I had one of my first bards you could persuade group members to recall, or quaff, which was very handy for when they lagged out or had a connection drop in super stupid dangerous territory. It's been a few years since I had a bard, but it seems that's no longer the case.

Of all people, Kin could probably weigh in on this if OA doesn't. I know they both worked with persuade relatively recently.

I haven't played a bard in years, grep. Well before any changes that would fall under the category of code changes that might encompass something like this.

I have only ever found persuade to be useful in gathering some buffs, the success rate seems to have increased since last I played, but I have learned over time it's pointless to use on PCs.

Bards would be hilariously, ridonkulously, insert more hyperbolic adjective here-y overpowered if persuade worked on enchanted PCs with ANY sort of regularity.
