Here's an idea:

When the group leader dies, instead of disbanding the group, someone else in the group should become the new group leader.

Suppose Bob is at 11, Jane is at 21 and Joe, group leader, is at 12. If Joe dies, I see no reason why Jane should suddenly no longer be protected by Bob.

The group leader should have a command to nominate his second in command, or it should automatically be the first person invited into the group.

Discuss.

No, no.

The party falls into chaos, because the leader was telling everybody where to be, and what to do, like a leader.

This is an important game balance part of mechanics like retreat. If you want to retreat, you're taking the chance that mercenary is going to bite it and your group will die horribly.

Pick a group leader who isn't going to die.

Yup. Part of game strategy.

This would upset the delicate mechanics managing tribunal guards.

It would require more delicate and cautious coding than it would appear to warrant.

You know, I just now thought to mention that I've had issues with tribunal guards leaving the party when another tribunal member leaves the party, even though there will still enough tribunal members in the party to support that number of guards.

I -think- everyone had leadership trained. I'll try to reproduce this and log it if I can.

Anyway, tribunal guards don't seem to have any trouble spontaneously leaving the group when the number of tribunal members in the group has dropped, even when they shouldn't.

I would guess because each guard is assigned to a specific member. When that member leaves so does the guard, regardless of if there is another free to recruit them
