Even though this will damage my adventuring...

I do believe seeing the power of the new enchanting that sorcerors should suffer a debuff on their charms. Since the charm has it's mind under control it loses intelligence, but it should also take hits to it's skillset, being unable to think for itself natural abilities should become labored. IE:Masterd skills should drop to very good or good.

Thoughts?

Sorcs are the most powerful class and could use a nerf like this. It's bad enough that they can 1-shot anyone with charm, but they can also out-melee most melee characters with Lathron.

What if charmies lost fourth attack? Maybe we could have charmies be primarily tanks and not so much DPS. This seems like a significant nerf to sorcs and it may seem like too much of a change. I dunno. The idea is worth discussing, I think.

With time and prep most of your high tier charms can give a melee best down. On top of that there are scrolls and one sit spells. I think the tank/damage role should be limited for charms.

I would take any Master status player over a Charm any day.
Previously Lathron was a go to Charm, only because he innately had Sanctuary, Haste, and Detects.
That is no longer true.
He cannot tank unless geared for it, and DPS is simply as any Large Barbarian (+ Haste and Giant Strength).

Even a well armed Charm will get wrecked by an average Merc/Barb/even Swash player.
Its the Sorcerer behind that Charm with 'scrolls and one sit spells' that turns the situation.

Are you saying it wouldn't be that much of a nerf to sorcs?

If charms were altered to be tankier, and lose fourth attack in return, I would say hell yes.
In any PvE endeavor I would rather have an elemental tank, than a charm tank.
So having charms tweaked and more able to fill that role similarly well would be fine by me.
(assuming lack of available player for said role)
At the same time I would like to see more available charms with their full skill set, even if they capped out at around Master status.
(Wolverine was Champ for swash? purposefully discluding that)

Charmed NPCs have been nerfed a lot and aren't the reason sorcerers are the most powerful class. 14 art trains and both fort/will 1-shot kill spells is.

I believe that hellions can only dominate a NPC a certain number of levels below them, would this work for charm as well?

Vindicator, that idea would cripple sorcerers as a solo class. All mage classes get high level charmies to facilitate their existence. Sorcerers would instantly become the only class that couldn't get GM easily simply by killing NPCs.

Any PK savvy and equipped GM warrior will take a dump on Lathron. GM warriors also have ranged options to wreck sorcerers with. Obviously, your mileage may vary depending on your experience as a player, but I don't think sorcerers should be nerfed because Lathron can beat up newbies. All classes have ways to beat up newbies pretty dramatically.
