Alright, this is an old conversation that I've had with SO many people over the last few years, but I think it needs to be brought up again in a manner which can be easily checked. IMMs, if this is considered ooc information, please let me know and I'll delete this post.

The argument of enchanting/consecrating at full mana is one that continues to dumbfound me. The amount of mana a person has should not directly affect the % of success when doing these two things. I've also heard this argument made with brewing as well. I'd like to hear your thoughts, as well as supporting evidence.

I don't think the amount of mana points remaining in your pool affects your chances of success. I *do* think the RNG tends towards streaks, and sometimes waiting until your pool is replenished can alter the timing of your efforts to break the streak if you are having a run of failures.

Although I do think enough people are convinced of the truth of this urban legend that it's worth at least looking into more thoroughly to debunk or confirm it through extensive testing. I personally don't have enough motivation to actually go through with that testing.

Regardless of what people say, no one is going to have a 100% answer for this if it isn't Dulrik answering while he looks at a list of the factors that go into the chances of success (I suspect it's been long enough that he doesn't have them memorized off the top of his head.) It would take days or weeks of testing to figure it out without that insight into how the code works, and even then I'm pretty sure none of us knows enough other variables to control that any kind of testing could be reasonably considered accurate.

I guess the tl;dr version is: No one knows except Dulrik and any opinions, while possibly passionately held opinions, are still just opinions. You do you.

I believe validated attributes to good enchanting, brewing, scribing or consecrating is high wisdom, high intelligence, high art, and not concentrating on other spells, and a bard singing and dancing songs of magic.

Less validated things that may affect the above is total mana pool, items that already glow, and material type.

You can pretty much guarantee that 5 enchants/ consecrating are possible per item. 6 generally requires a lot of luck, and help from a bard. Anything beyond that seems neigh impossible.

Would have to agree with this. Though I usually just stick to the 3 enchants/consecrates between ticks to minimize mana drain.

Having played a bard, with songs of magic a 6 stack can still be difficult. Which is why I started splitting runes (yeah some of you know who I am immediately after saying that), adding 4/2 or 3/3 with AP/MP is as easy as getting 5 normally. Avoiding that 5 stack hum seems to make things easier.
A full 7 runes is possible with two bards, I have helped do at least a dozen items split like this, only seen a full 7 stack twice I think.

All I really will say is that I am not a believer in the streak theory. The RNG is used constantly by actions performed by both players and NPCs. Even if you were literally the only one playing, other randoms needed by NPCs would most likely ensure that you never would experience the opportunity to even see a streak applied to your character. Especially for enchanting which takes a long time between castings.

I had an elf bard sing in order to enchant +7 AP onto a mithril chestpiece that started with greater AP with Berr.

I firmly believe that there is a streaky element to RNG, however only when it concerns spamming a single instant action repeatedly, like spam reading a note in order to improve at a language. Anecdotally, I've noticed a large amount of occurrences of 2-3 improves in the same second.
