Just a small idea to overhaul the swashies:

Kip up + stance

allows the kip up to further improve the combat proficiency of the swashbuckler, to jump back into action without a moment to waste.

so when prone just type kip aggre/def/wolverine/hedgehog/neutral.

cheers ears

i've always wanted to roll a swash but honestly it seems too involved and complicated, esp with stances... and not worth the effort that a merc would be. good luck everyone lol, would love to see a good swashie in the game

Swash is fun to play, and actually works okay in PVP if you're willing to prep your brains out (and probably go Hammer), but they are inferior in every way to a merc/barb in terms of PvE and drastically so.

I mean, we have a log somewhere of doing Ephialtis with 1 priest, 1 paladin, 1 shaman, 1 sorc, 1 warlock, 1 swashie, (no merc/barb in the group) so the class isn't exactly /unplayable/, it just....would be so much better to have a merc or barb instead in basically every scenario.

I like the idea of ready for action. Perhaps just make it so awash doesn’t lose their stance if knocked prone. Kip up or standing itself would allow them to stay in their stance.

Someone also made a comment about giving them something like toughness, that makes their light armor act similar to heavy armor? Would that make them OP?

This idea is good, ideally all classes would be able to return to their previous stance automatically after recovering from prone.

Swashies need some sort of skill while dual wielding that gives them extra armor protection similar to the one shields provide.

Just remove the stance reset completely, across all classes.

OR make the reset chance much much lower.

Yup.

Light armor, No shield block, no second-row options, and rescue <<< taunt (Except in PvP, and even then is very costly to use and not guaranteed) means that being or having a swashbuckler means you are less useful in almost every measurable category.

Mind you, there have been improvements. Heckle is nice. Hedgehog/Wolverine stances are great. They're still not 'enough' to put swashbucklers legitimately desirable for PvE though.

I do agree with the OP that kip up should have a stance option. That would be a really good quality of life change.
