There's virtue in being consistent. If you react ambiguously to cheating, more people might cheat because they think that they might be one of the lucky people to get caught and only receive a slap on the wrist. If anything, we aren't nearly consistent enough, because sometimes immortals may not bring a violation to my attention. Acting appropriately humble and apologetic might not have swayed Nashira, but I am sure that there have been many times in the past where it has kept people from being brought to my attention for a ruling. It's good that did not happen here.
It's too bad this whole thing had to happen, but it was easily avoidable by remembering one thing: follow the rules.
