Oh god, not this "back in the day" crap again.

Finger of death is a bit sketchy, sure, but not a direct violation of Meissan faith. It's certainly not the most benevolent spell...but it's basically just killing. It's not much different from acid blast or whatever. Plague, on the other hand, is the straight-up opposite of Meissa. That's like a Dulrik follower pretending to be a necro's best friend in order to kill him. It just doesn't fly.

Hey, there are a lot of us still around that remember when RP was stronger than PK. That does not mean we do not know how or when to PK, it just means we remember a time when SK flourished and the player count was a considerable amount higher than it is now. I know a lot of people that left because they got sick of the people playing to win, the people who keep a character for a month on average, the OOC connections it takes usually, and the repeated daily PK of their characters. I mean, how much respect do people not have when their GM character is PKing a novice or initiate repeatedly with little more than a grunt for RP. Yes, there is enmity in some cases, that said, not even enmity needs to end up in PK.

Agreed. Now if I played a HF of Meissa and I heard of a priest using plague, it would be a blemish. Finger of death, I would have to hear the reason on, as in did they try everything and this was a last resort for them.

I don't remember this era you're describing at all. There has always been players that enjoy killing more than emoting. There have always been lowbies that get killed. I also don't understand how you're saying on one hand it was so great "back in the day", but you also say how people used to play in all these bad ways causing the shrinkage of the playerbase. I think the shrinkage of the playerbase is due to many reasons, several of which were beyond anybody's control. I also know that people say the playerbase is shrinking, but I believe its fluctuated up and down over the past five years. With that fluctuation its basically the same size. It might have been much larger before that, but I'd wager that the niche of mudding has dwindled in size and our remaining as one of the more popular mud destinations is only because of the varied and wonderful qualities of players here. That and Dulrik owns our souls.

i think when we first begun to play our perception to the game was different, and we were also younger (of course)

as we play the game more we meet more people, get to know more players, especially reading about them in the forums, after life threads, learning more roleplay, seeing more kinds (eventually all kinds) of roleplay, finally, we also grow older in the process, having more responsibilities, etc

when all that happens, our priorities in the game, as well as for the game, change

were old days better? of course they were!

but looking at SK top-down, inside a box, it's probably always been this way

Back in the day we could merely get away with more [REDACTED]. Characters were more bad [REDACTED]. Harder to kill. It was fun to chase a bad [REDACTED] to try and kill him. Now any ole basterd will do.
