I just sort of lost interest in this char after he stopped being a secret harlequin. I have to say, whoever leaked the names of the secret harlies, you really, really suck.
Ghailan wasn't supposed to be a harlie char. He was made to be an independent, but then I decided that being a secret harlie might be worth a few laughs. It was, but then some jackass leaked the secret and then I evidently became the official not-so-secret harlie or something.
Ghailan was born in a deep-elven house, and was set aside from his birth to be a fighter, to give his life up unquestioningly for his House and his Matron. Early in the second half of his first century of life, he was lucky enough to be present during an assassination attempt on the matron and foiled it, through a combination of skill and luck. His actions caught the favor of the matron, and, becoming bored with her current male courtesan, she decided that Ghailan might be a fun new toy to play with. Within ten years, he killed another assassin, and finally, late in his 99th year of life, he killed three assassins at once. He almost died that day, and when he recovered he decided that he was sick of his life. Ghailan had always been a uniquely reckless and willful individual, which was part of his success as a fighter and an even greater part of the matron's fascination with him. He snuck out, and started to burrow up. It took him two years to travel up to the surface, and when he emerged, he was in the empire. The rest is history, however small.
