His grandparents, on his dad's side, lived with them, along with two older sisters and one younger sister. At the age of six, what remnants of orcs that still existed in the area banded together and raided the farm. They killed everyone in a bloodlust rage. He was the only to survive, by the grace of the ancestors, who someone kept him protected and hidden. From that time, he was in their debt to be their voice. He grew up on the plains, scavanging what he could from dropped bits, food left behind by travellers and moving south when it got too cold for thread-bare cloth did not keep him warm enough. Soon after turning fifteen years old, he was discovered by a scout out on patrol. Having no education, and obviously living on his own, the scout decided to put him up for scholarship at the academy, where he was taught how to read and write in the style of Sylvan. At sixteen, he found that the scout had set up a trust fund for him. As well as having his speaking gifts blossom in full. He accepted that he could not escape it and went into training in how to deal with it. He was not a socialable person. His time alone, watching people from afar, made him dislike people in general. The way they deluded themselves in their thinking, how they treated each other. He was never afraid, or even aware at times, of speaking his mind. If he said it, he meant it. It took him decades to develop a sense of humour that could be described as ironic. In order for him to meet new people, Iliphalia would have had to bring them home to meet, otherwise, he was quite content just sitting quietly for hours and days until someone needed a ritual performed, which almost never happened. It wasn't until he was in his mid-70s that he finally decided to spend more time around people. It never ceased to amaze him how blind people could be, especially to themselves. And, being as he was, was not afraid to point it out to people, even if meant that it would end in his demise. Something that he pushed a time or two without anything coming from it. He cared little of what others thought of him. He was comfortable with who he was and they either liked him, or didn't. He refused to learn voodoo. He considered it an abuse of the spirits trust to use them in that manner. They would do it, of course, but it was not worth him to anger them in such a manner as to make them leave, despite his protests of how they had annoyed him throughout his life. I wish I had done a bit more with him than I did, but I certainly don't regret the lack that was made. It would have rounded him out a bit more and made him more of what I would have liked to have seen from him. There are quite a few people that really made an impression on him, and I know that I will forget some, so, no list. I hope that you will know who you are. As promised, he will continue to haunt you. |

Iliphalia will dearly miss her husband of nearly 80 years, and I will personally miss Savlaraen. You have this habit if building characters that are fascinating to know. They have layers and rich stories and are compelling to be near: Sav was no exception. I'd be interested to see what a Travorn darkie would look like, but I know what your next incarnation is and simply hope to get to know him (I suspect I will !). Good luck with him -- could be a nice change of pace. My hat's off. Well played, sir. |

Savlaraen was a great char. Gabriella really enjoyed all the interactions that she had with her adopted father. He taught her a lot and was a very caring man. I believe he made a huge impact on sk and I know that everyone that knew him will miss him greatly. oocly Good luck on your next char, with the rp I saw with sav I think any char you do will be awesome. |

I had the same thought until I read the whole post. Travorn wrote: He was not a socialable person. His time alone, watching people from afar, made him dislike people in general. . . It wasn't until he was in his mid-70s that he finally decided to spend more time around people. That's not an easy concept to pull off. Kudos on what I hear was a very successful character. |

Oh, and he was the first character I've kept that made it to Paragon. I still contend there was an accounting error for me to get that. |
