You're asking for an explanation of the OOC mechanics of the code itself (hence why you're asking for a coder to answer), and yet peppered among your posts is the acronym "IC". I'm not seeing the IC link.

If you want the IC answer, just research a dictionary for the meaning of the words riposte, parry, etc...

No, there is valid IC reasoning why the coded functionality of parry should be known. Someone who knows how to parry at a masterful level should have a very deep understanding of all the necessary facets to parry most effectively.

Student: "Yes, mentor, I understand now the ways of parrying weapons as you have taught me the skill very well. However, I have a question...Do I need to know the use of the weapons I am parrying to have the best means of predicting where they will be to parry them?"

Mentor: "I know not, Grasshopper, for it is a mystery that none can ever answer."

Student: "But then, how can one be a master of the skill? Does not mastery assume the deepest understandings of a thing?"

Mentor: "It does, but He Who Determines The Dice Rolls That Decides Our Fate refuses to answer the workings of our ability, and therefore I cannot tell you one way or the other. Go, and die well trying to learn."

These are basic IC things. Is it harder to parry an attack that is aimed at your head if you are aiming at the feet of your enemies?

That is something that should, CLEARLY, be common knowledge in game. It is not - nobody actually know the answer to it besides Dulrik. These questions shouldn't be mysteries to the pbase.
