I always wonder about the name filter. There are a lot of definitions out there for a very large variety of words that are not causing any kind of harm or breaking suspension of disbelief. Trying to change the name of everyone with a word in a dictionary would only end in a lot of busy work.

For example, the definition of a Turon is a banana fritter. I don't think anybody knew that, and I don't think anybody is having their fantasy shattered by the name.

Mmm, I want to make a turon right now. And then call someone a "dago." (not really, kids.)

Instead of stomping up and down on a soap box, why not send mature, polite reports on other names you believe have issues?

You can change the world without having to do all this song and dance regarding the way it is now.

All you've called out is, "No fair!" To make it worse, you haven't shown that you've done anything to help the situation, while at the same time, seem to be expecting volunteer administrators to go do what you think is right. The whole thing has all the maturity of a five year old complaining about her game experience with Candy Land.

A better stance would be to do something like what Turon did during the filter debate, by coming to the "public" with a story of how his best efforts were thwarted and how he believed the next step should be bringing awareness and clarification to a situation.

You basically skipped the part where you do something about whatever problem it is you feel exists other than whine. America indeed.

I laughed the whole way through this. Not in any level was my original post whining nor the follow-up one. I don't whine/flame/temper tantrum on web forums. I use sound, logical rhetoric to illustrate a point and make a clear statement. I'm 26 and have grown way beyond whining like a child about a game. I would have followed the proper channels of reporting the issue, but I was unaware as to who the proper channel to go to in this situation would be, which is why the original post was created. These are volunteer administrators and I'm fully aware of the fact that their job isn't entirely to police every situation, it's not even their job, they're supposed to be builders and supporters of the fantasy world we enjoy. This was an attempt to flesh out who would be the proper channel for this situation.

Grep, you don't know who I am in person and there may or may not be supposition empirical evidence here to my previous posts, but many were from when I was younger. If you knew me in person, you would know that I'm not anywhere close to the whining type, so I don't know why you're trying to make me out to look like a bad guy, but I don't appreciate it. I left the game for a year to avoid the whiners and drama as a result because I don't enjoy it, so please stop calling my personal character into question because of some inert words on an internet forum that had no character or punctuation inflection to indicate any degree of animus. The forum was designed to make the IMMs aware of issues when players may not know the proper channels and to make other players aware of things that would affect the public.

This thread was originally intended for Immortal attention and for whomever is responsible for these issues to step up and say, "I'm the person who handles naming issues, please come to me if you have any questions or concerns about naming issues. If I cannot handle your issue, please see the following immortal and they should be able to resolve your issue." It wasn't intended for a grep lecture about how I was supposed to follow the proper channels. I'm following them exactly as they're intended.

And Tirn with Riddic Olous or w/e (Ridiculous)

((Also, I've never heard the name Kotor before))

And who can forget "Larry"? Swashbuckler created for the sole reason of being forced to change his name... and never did.

I was specifically told by an IMM that Joseph was a legal name. There's some food for thought.

I'm also not sure why Dayamin is pretending that his original post contained content that it did not. The post is still there for everyone to read.
