I've done it on a bard and a shaman, and once I think on a paladin. It really didn't turn the tide too significantly in their favor.

Maybe not on a bard/shaman/paladin who don't get very many attacks to begin with. As a furied barb, it's not uncommon to get 2 attacks per round and rarely do you get more than 3. That's incredible.

The bard in question got 4 attacks per round. Under the effect of the spell that dropped to 3. So unless it' got ninja buffed at some point, I'd say there's some other factor involved if a furied barb is getting rocked so hard by it.
