Some good news, albeit somewhat perplexing. Hotmail got back to me and said 'There's nothing preventing your emails from being sent.' So I made some code changes to enable hotmail again on the live site and tried creating a character with a hotmail address. Indeed! It does seem to work again.

So for those of you who have been waiting, thanks and give it a go. I KNOW it wasn't working before, so one wonders if the enforced lack of contact with their email servers allowed us to drop naturally off of a ban list. I don't have any other theories at the moment.

The bounce messages from Hotmail have resumed, so I have once again disabled Microsoft domains from being registered as email addresses.

I have sent a followup request to Microsoft with the latest bounce report and will wait to hear back from them.
