Only met an immortal once in person--Achernar--first day playing SK. After having read most of the website helpfiles, I was so nervous, I became hopelessly tongue-tied during the encounter, especially since I'd wandered directly into town with no adjective and a majorly messed up description--new to ZMUD, too.

Haven't seen a single immortal since.

I am -of course- not talking about the other extreme of Gods playing it drinking buddies with some random mortal. But I won't forget the following:

Sargas manifesting on his steed before Konstantin and Siegfried to aid His favored Eye in crushing the slimy synyta scum threatening to overwhelm his hometown.
Alshain standing before ruined Seaside during the Levithan's ending RP.

There has to be a very important ppl for IMMs to make their avatars come down themselves and do something, much less before public view. I think the most extreme cases of adoring/admiring/being interested in a particular follower personally -or- times of great need for the god's agenda (or Pyrathia's as a whole) while -not- directly facing another god or his/her schemes justify the appearances of gods perfectly.

The only reason I can think of D actively disallowing IMM-mortal interaction is the possibility of playing favorites. In theory, that's a valid concern. In practice, not at all. Even if some IMM manages to secretly help the mortal in question, ICLy so, the positive effects of such a phenomenon reappearing will far outweigh the negative. The only thing needed is mature IMMs to keep it out of OOC power-gaming assistance etc. etc. anyway.

I'd argue the other side. Gods are far more awesome when they rarely appear. They're also the 500-pound gorillas of roleplay; you're essentially stuck with going along for the ride. That's fine once in a while, but not something that would appeal on a regular basis.

Exactly. But "never" is hardly a precious degree of rarity. ;)

What if your character can comfortably carry over 500 pounds?

[REDACTED]... there was a period of time where Fepel got ooc: messages from Imms because she *did* carry 500 or so lbs of [REDACTED] on her person all the times.

Back on topic.

More Imm Interaction plz!

I have interacted with players as NPCs since day one of my naming as Achernar. Even you, Fepel.

Achernar

What I don't understand is why people break their RP all the time to talk to animated NPCs that their characters wouldn't give the time of day to.

Last time some imm animated a NPC for me, I snubbed the hell out of him.

I must say with the few changes happening in Zhenshi at the moment, I've thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with the IMM's whether it was as IMM's or some of the NPC's arond town gathering information for the changes IC. The RP for these things has been great.

Achernar, great job with portraying the various characters I've been discussing these changes with.

There a couple of interactions with Zavijah that were fun. First was after an especailly disappointing evening of being PK'd and not having had any RP involved from my attacker. I stayed dead for several ooc hours, contemplating whether to just delete or not, Tonth pops on and sends me a Tell asking if I required life. I get it and while wandering around looking for new equipment, Zavijah appears, hugs me and disappears. Then sends me a Tell saying, you look liked you could use a hug. I did in fact lose it and busted out laughing. *grumbles* Way to ruin a nice foul mood. LoL

Another time with Zavijah, in in my Leet Noobness, check my outlaw list and see he's on it. Well not sure whether I should do anything or not, I sent him a Tell asking if I should give him a pardon. Definately not smart on my part. He then appears before me and booms at me about if I really think my mortal laws apply to him. *gulp* Oops I was lucky he didn't fry me right there on the spot. But it still was a kewl interaction, one I definately learned from. Hehehe

There was also another time in the Inn where an IMM shows up to force a duel between a giant in the Harlies and the giant in the Hammer that was a bit nerve wracking. Hehehe I just knew I was going to be smited on the spot, just because the Talons and Harlies have a fairly rough relationship. And he's their KD I believe.

So if you get the chance to do some RP with an IMM, whether in their IMM guise or a simple NPC, enjoy it, it can make for a kewl moment of RP or PK if you happen to [REDACTED] them off. Hehehe
