My main beef with Sadr is that the yenko hellions were so awesome to rp. And now Sadr doesn't accept them anymore. I like the Sadr religion, don't get me wrong, its just that I was the HP of yenko at the time of the change so I felt the effects of it pretty hard. If sadr had just kept hellions I, along with radamanthys I bet, wouldn't have blinked an eye.

I propose that sadr be given hellions and meissa paladins.

I think Sadr should take hellions also. As a past HF of Sadr I checked into it for RP reasons, but was told it was hard coded in the mud to prevent paladin/hellions outside of the H or P flagged religion.

Let me just say: You've obviously never had frostbite if you think suffering through winter is clean. Nor have any of the entertaining things that happen to your skin in really cold weather happened to you. Also, I've gotten the impression a fair number of Yenko's groups used plague to test inductees and such. The cleanliness thing doesn't make sense to me. Suffering is 'clean' insofar as the religion is concerned because it's holy and purifying. John Paul II babbled about divine suffering, and his particular brand of it was nasty, nasty, nasty. It doesn't matter if it's based in extremities falling off and skin cracking or boils and dysentery, from where I stand. But that's just me. I might say Radamanthys is a Japanophile and loves Hellions and that's the issue since I can empathize with that more easily.

Actually I have pictures of it from my old Paramedic book I used when I went through school. I am sure I can post them. And it is the concept we are arguing. I have a feeling that those of you arguing with Rad and I about the Yenko religion weren't even around for it. I was never plagued when I entered the religion oh so many years ago.

Winter is hard and suffering, it is also cold and beautiful. The concept. The hellions being hard and uncaring like Winter is. Not being a plague or disease upon the realms. The believed that you are purified through suffering and made stronger. The weak be damned. Yenko was that way. When I entertained the idea of killing the HF of the time and taking over Yenko took over a prietess NPC and said.. Well if she is weak then she will fall and there is your answer.

It was awesome.

I don't remember plague being used on any of our inductees, but they would be asked to prove their dedication to yenko. They had a choice of self-inflicted pain and allowing someone else to do it for them, surprisingly, 100% of everyone I ever inducted, which was a lot always went the self inflicted route. I gave them a choice of things to use on theirselves, most of the time it was the ice knife, and they went to town until they died from it. My priest used a mace on himself, I was creative see.

Frostbite aside (which is not the case in SKs, spare me but no one is going to RP his leg getting frozen to the point of rot, while they don't RP more immediately basic things), Ice is "cleaner" because it is cold. Frost and low temperatures destroy germs and combine pain with "purity". Νοτ perceived purity that most faiths believe their teachings involve, but the physical transparency of clean ice.

The complete control over emotions and pain and suffering (without denying them, of course) was also one of my favorite characteristics of Yenkites.

To me, Yenko always sounded a bit like the Snow-queen in Andersen's tale. She is cold, cruel and beautiful, rather than the obscure, dirty and rotten image of Sadr. I always prefered her "powerful" image to the frail and sick one of Sadr.

Yenko was like a dark goddess of wisdom. The evil female zavijah who would reveal truths to you wether you wished to accept them or not. You had to believe her though because her word was always truth, but truth hurts. She cleansed the weak and purified what remained, making them strong. You had to respect the maiden of pain, period.

Sadr always seemed to me like they took yopparai's insanity sphere and tried to cram it into yenko and make an amalgam. Since disease obviously covers disease of the mind. To me, becuase of that, Sadr lost the dark truth that you knew you could believe that Yenko had. You can just chalk sadr up to mad ravings of a diseased mind. Because of this I have to agree with juggs. Yenko had a terrible majesty about her and an unconquerable strength that squeezed the throat of the weak until they died, where as Sadr seems to be the old crone or the female rag man who happens to find a weak person, lets them linger till they die, then quietly takes out the trash.
