:P :o Holy thread necromancy batman! :o :P

Just to clarify two points mentioned earlier in the thread:
Quote:
[will] the person to best represent SK in an Ad wil be rewarded somehow [in-game]?

Quote:
...I can make my own [artwork], but then they'd be my intellectual property and not Dulrik's, which as I understand it is not wished by him.

The aim is that whoever comes up with the works that are liked and used in advertising for the game are doing so for the benefit of the game itself and not for their own benefit - and certainly not for any commercial benefit either - SK is free to play, so we are relying on the goodwill of our immortals and players alike.

Dulrik wrote:
We already have the art for this. All three characters in the example are from Ed Northcott's artwork that is on the website. What we need is someone who can put together an animated banner ad.

So if there's anyone out there that is interested in picking up where this thread had left off and comes up with a banner or two (in either GIF or Flash), please give it a shot. Your reward will be the wonderful warm feeling of knowing you helped the game bring in more players.

Note: the rights of any submissions are transferred to Dulrik - e.g. so he can use them to advertise Shattered Kingdoms. If you're not the rights holder for the work, please make this clear to whoever did the work and ensure they understand and agree.

I will put something together.

The artwork isn't readily accessable though.

Earlier efforts by teh1337n00b:

Dulrik has said he'd sent a colour version of the artwork to those that show genuine interest, so I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get things started (as a rough starting point, you could lift the colour artwork from the 3rd sample above if you had to).

There's also the background versions of the art, for which I shall be eternally ashamed to have abused Ed's artwork so harshly:

Earlier efforts by teh1337n00b were coming along well:

I'd actually like the full size color picture, not broken up, if anyone has access to that.

I responded to this already -

Sharing the colour artwork that was given probably isn't the best approach. People who received it to assist with their submissions should be aware of that. Please respect Ed's artwork and Dulrik's investment in the game.

You might be able to send Dulrik a PM, but please be aware that based on past experience, the ratio of words to action is very uneven in these kinds of ideas. The imbalance is well and truly offset by the ratio of appreciation to criticism for the work that is submitted, though. :)

Bring on the submissions!

If you tell me which characters from the artwork you want to use in the ad, I'd be willing to send you cropped full-size versions of those. I'm not going to send out the full-size artwork in its entirety.

But before I send out anything, I'd like to see a mock-up of the advertisement. Use placeholder images in place of the artwork you want, so that we can see where it would go. This is standard practice in the industry.
