Post subject:  Typo and Bug logs.

Besides what the user types, what other information do you see. For instance, do you see our player name, e-mail address ... or what?

Just curious, that way when I typo or bug something that I want a responce too, I know what info to add.

Also, is there a char limit when I typo or bug log something?

Code:
[ 1234] Timorob: Empty room you can teleport to.

Your character's name and the number of the room you're standing in - that's that only 'extra' bits we get. This is why it is especially important to give as much information about *objects* that you have an issue with, since we need to search for those ourselves and then examine them.

- Alshain.

PS: Player's email addresses are not available to anyone but Dulrik and I doubt he'd give them to any other immortal, even if they asked.

Actually, one more question: Is there a char limit?

A limit as to how many entries one character can make per week? No.

I believe he means a limit of how many ASCII/ANSI characters are allowed per log. I.E. The number of characters allowed in sigblocks or the number of characters allowed using the title command (the limit of which includes &1 color codes)>.

Ah...yes, there is a limit.

Here is an example of a log from last year that was cut off. I didn't count the exact number of characters, but it should give you a sense of how long is too long.

Quote:
[ 5042] XXXXXX: If you haste yourself, to a certain age, you should
get the stat changes that you would normally get if you reached that age
without haste. Two reasons... One, if you haste your body, your blood
pumps faster, your mind works faster, and it would be like gaining a
years stress on the mind and a years insight because your thoughts would
be moving so fast. You would also cope with thinking while under such
stress which would make you more intelligent.. Also, many people dont
play for extremely long amou

As you see, the word "amount" in the last part was cut off.

It would be nice to get something like when you write a note message that is too long when you have too long of a bug/typo/idea. Perhaps include where it would be cut off. For example, using Werttrew's example:

Quote:
(SNIPPED)be moving so fast. You would also cope with thinking while under such stress which would make you more intelligent.. Also, many people dont play for extremely long amou

Line too long, cut off after long, please rephrase.

What is in bold is what the player would see if the line is too long. And if it is too long, it doesn't go into the log, to cut back on multiple posts from one person that insists on being wordy.

Exactly. Thanx. Now I know.

From what Wert posted, it's about 500 characters.

If you're concerned that what you're about to type is more than 500 characters, type it in WordPad or something and cut it into a couple of lines, then just paste them back.

500 characters REALLY is a lot, after all, and things that can't be explained in a few short phrases probably need to be sent by e-mail anyway.
