 Post subject: A word of appreciation

It's been at least three years since I last visited Shattered Kingdoms and nearly ten years since I maintained a character who appeared on a regular basis. From what I have seen on this site just recently, the imm staff and even the players themselves who have stood through the many changes deserve a hearty word of appreciation. Compared to what I once knew, SK is now a brand new game filled with innovative ideas I never knew could be built in such an environment. And with such a diverse and dedicated player base, I'm sure SK will live on for many years to come. I encourage all players to leave a kind word of thanks to the imm staff and the players who helped shape SK into what it is today. Thanks to all for creating such an incredible world to escape to when we need a break from the real world!

I'm hoping to stick around for as long as my free time schedule allows. :wink: Taking care of a house, wife, toddler and working in a job with a never ending staff shortage leaves little free time I'm afraid. But so long as SK is around and offers 24/7 openings to exploration, RP and the occasional fanny whoopin' (both given and received) I'll always look forward to dropping in to see what Dulrik and the rest of the imm staff have created.

I honestly only remember two names of the 10 characters I've played since '98. That's the first and last prominent characters I had.
1) Altair ('98): Human paladin for Freesia/Dulrik. My FIRST MUD character ever and a total newb all the way through. He was built badly, flaked in PK, and really should never have been played the way he was in retrospect.
2) Luthor ('03): Dwarf merc for Dulrik. I hated having to delete him; he was built well and the RP with him was never boring. But I had to decide between mudding or putting my life back together after my fiance (at the time) left me.

I have to admit the struggles of being a newbie are as prominent as ever; but this mentor system that's in place is a great boost to getting through it. Thanks to all who have been helping me reintegrate into the mudding life!

Awesome stuff, good to have you back. I kind of remember the name Altair at least being mentioned (I don't remember playing in '98, I remember starting at around '99-2K) when I played my first. Best of luck to you.

Believe me I was in no way being sarcastic. SK has come a LONG way from what I knew it to be. In fact if the mentor system had been in place back when I was playing I doubt I would have ever left (even though finding time to MUD while in a clinical internship would have left me with no sleep :wink: ). I actaully preferred to help newbies out with finding new places to train and grouping with them to learn the ropes. I'd like to build a character designed to do that again but I think my time spent on the MUD will never be enough to get that far bacause of a certain little girl who is into everything around here...
Toddlers = little sleep and little free time. But maybe that's better left for another forum topic: "How to successfully MUD with a energetic toddler on the loose." :P
