Post subject: | Religion idea |
I've been playing for a few days now, trying to find a priest of a faith I'm trying to get into. For whatever reason, whether there's nobody active in the religion, or whether we simply miss each other's online times, I've not seen anyone to interact with. My idea is as follows. Perhaps a command should be made available to priests, paladins, and hellions who have not yet been invested in a religion (perhaps from the rank of novice upwards) to indicate their preference for a religion. This would not be a purely cosmetic change. They would become an acolyte in the religion they've chosen, and receive a range of low-level spells (perhaps up to veteran level) they can cast, rather than simply being cut off from spells above initiate level. They would also be flagged a member of that religion, so they can see the 'who religion' list, and access the religion forum. This would all make interaction with fellow members of faith far easier, it would prevent leveling from grinding to a stop at a very low level, and best of all it would not prevent them from performing the RP necessary to 'join' a faith, as they only have access to rudimentary religious abilities, so would still need to interact with the leaders to gain full membership. It would be of particular benefit if a religion is inactive, as a player can then simply petition the patron immortal for full religious status (or a leader flag) over the forums and get a better view of the situation, rather than having to pray online and hope for an immortal to be about. |

You can do all that, and this is how it is usually done anyhow, by showing that in your title. Write something like "Seeking <God>'s church" in your title, and you are done. |

Yes well. Some people don't want to walk around with a bullseye, either. "Hi lighties. I am a seeker of Thuban. I'm telling the world so I can join their Church, but then hope everyone has their minds wiped, so I can then RP that I'm not in fact a believer in Thuban's teachings." Titles aren't always the best. Just for those of us glutton for punishment. |

There is the astral notice board if you can find the name of the leader you can post a note to them no one else can read. Also if you can not find the HF pray in the temples from time to time an Imm might catch a few of those prays and talk to the HF then induct you. Just don’t spam prays the command can be removed. |

Sage advice. But also remember, prayers can be IC. Good luck with your new character. |

I harassed then-Yenko-now-Sadr into investing Morcwyn, one of my hellions. ICly, at that. Unfortunately, like, the next week he changed over to Sadr and Morcwyn lost all his spells. I had made master without any spells, had some for a week, and promptly lost them. This sucked a lot. However, it made for some fun RP with the unravelling of a hellion's psyche. |

I know when I was/am a Thubanite, I would do it ALL The time and all the while the title had thuban written all over the place. |

I became the last HP of Yizashi by praying over and over again until I got invested. Pray does a body good. |
