I had a full set of gear.. at about Initiate level. I played this character to apprentice. About that time, my gear starts to crumble.. to me it was for no reason, but obviously there is.. someone enlighten me on that? Is it because I'm a gnome, or what? I shrink it to fit, hat do I have to do, get someone to preserve it somehow. Very irritating, when your whole set crumbles, with in a 5 minute period. |

Did any of the gear say (Sacred)? Also shopkeeper gear will crumble if you actually get it in killing the shopkeeper. |

Some items(a low level quest item for example) will crumble after a few hours(RL). Several items actually have such timers. Also, some items dissapear when you die. Your best bet is to send the list of items that crumbled to an immortal, or paste it here, and see if these items have such attributes. |

All I know is, it was from the deep elven area... mesh attire, with silver clasped bracers, and rings of ice... I was told that it was because the gear was on the surface for a long period of time, someone else, said that its because who ever charmed the NPCs.. had their energy on the gear.. so it was almost like stealing.. pretty much, I just want to understand the logic and possible ways for gear to crumble. |

Some gear is flagged not to save across sessions, so you loose it on logging out. Keys, in particular, are prone to this, so it's wise to not log out behind a locked door unless you either don't care or are certain the key concerned is going to persist. Some gear is flagged with a timer to crumble after a period of time expires from when it is first used. This timer could be anything from minutes to months. Some gear is flagged to crumble shortly after the death of its wearer, this time typically being very short, measured in seconds to minutes at best. Note, the "wearer" in this instance may be the NPC you kill to take the gear in the first place. If your gear persisted across a length of time, especially across a couple or more game sessions, I'd guess the second case applied to you. If it crumbled within five minutes of your getting it, the third case applied. Whether this was, from an IC point of view, designed to simulate the stuff being exposed to the surface or not I have no idea. But I suspect the fact that you exposed it to the surface had no mechanical impact on the kits' disintergration. It was simply time expired. |

*shrug* Behelros wrote, "I just want to understand the logic and possible ways for gear to crumble". I was just explaining the most common mechanics behind the "crumbling process". I'm not directly familiar with the actual gear involved, and probably wouldn't explain the detail if I was. |

Let's see...it might have been fixed since I lost them...the oxidized ring, the necklaces...I don't know if I had the halo or the skirt. My logs got lost, but that was about what I had, then it all got stolen or crumbled while I was wearing it. |
