I'm not sure which IMM thought it prudent that my character's name (Kotor) be changed because it may have had some similarity to an acronym of Knights of the Old Republic, which was purely coincidental, but there are far less original names that appear to be much more clear violations of the naming requirements. I'm not concerned which IMM it was, but you do have to remain to a consistent standard. See below:

Code:
[--- ---] Garaek, New to Pyrathia
[--- ---] Grinidel Grihm - Lieutenant Slaughter
[--- ---] Bakooza - The Frost Giant <----- See - Bazooka
[--- ---] Oculoma.
[--- ---] Alhon Collector of Shoes.
[--- ---] Corwick the Evoker
[PAR Pal] Ericos High Knight of Lord Dulrik. Peacekeeper
[PAR ---] Baba - Advisor to the Alliance, Mist of the Unknown
[Hal GOD] [None] Meissa - The Shining Lady of Healing
[--- ---] Zecha Absent Minded Inquisitor
[--- ---] Grimwin. <------- Obvious
[--- ---] Illianah - Gypsy of the Ancients.
[--- ---] Iychai, Elemental Ecclesiastic.
[--- ---] Eddard of the Southlands, ordained Knight of Tyranny
[--- ---] Draykeios - Created by War, warrior for his Creator's will. Imperial mercenary.
[PAR ---] Nico Pinhallow Regent of the Alliance

Players found: 17

[HP:100%] [ME:100%] [PE:100%]

While I appreciate a greater IMM presence, being targeted for something purely coincidental while others with greater obviousness run rampant appears to be contradictory of the "rules". If I'm required to change my characters names, so too should these names be changed.

You may simply have been reported.

Report names you think are not kosher in a discrete and courteous e-mail, and see what happens.

Even if they are called immortals, they are hardly omniscient.

Reported for the name Kotor because someone thought it was the abbreviation of Knights of the old Republic? That seems as far-fetched as the name being an abbreviation, especially coming from me. This post was intended to call it out, which is why it's a public forum. If the populations of the masses can't keep their leaders in check, then society breaks down. America, how I love thee... Anyway, tangent aside, if the IMMs can make supposition notices based on that, and the reporting of it would have been completely out of line, then the obvious doesn't require anything close to omniscience.

Well, in the IMMs defense, I was less distracted by Grimwin than Kotor. I'm not saying that Grimwin is less of a violation (In fact, the opposite is true) but I see where they're coming from.

Instead of stomping up and down on a soap box, why not send mature, polite reports on other names you believe have issues?

You can change the world without having to do all this song and dance regarding the way it is now.

All you've called out is, "No fair!" To make it worse, you haven't shown that you've done anything to help the situation, while at the same time, seem to be expecting volunteer administrators to go do what you think is right. The whole thing has all the maturity of a five year old complaining about her game experience with Candy Land.

A better stance would be to do something like what Turon did during the filter debate, by coming to the "public" with a story of how his best efforts were thwarted and how he believed the next step should be bringing awareness and clarification to a situation.

You basically skipped the part where you do something about whatever problem it is you feel exists other than whine. America indeed.

That's as silly as Caeserea/Caesarea or whatever it was. Some people just get singled out. I'll never forgot how long Bree got away with it.

I didn't know Bree was bad until they changed it.

Dude, I don't even READ all these obscure fantasy novels everyone else seems to be obsessed with, and I know Bree is like the most common fantasy girl/horse/village/whatever name out there. Way more common than "Caesarea."
