So me and someone else were talking on Yahoo about some developments of SK. We got to wondering if Dulrik had a ultimate vision, an end goal of what he wanted SK to become.

Upon thinking these things, I decided to solicit opinions from the other IMMs (past and current) on what you felt was your most major/lasting contributions to SK were, and where you see the future headed.

Dulrik espically, I'd like to hear future plans from current staffers. What's on the chalkboard, what's in the brainstorms of all our creative people. Where does the emphaises lie in the future? What's going to happen long term, like years from now.

I have always been a curious person.

Here's the closest thing I have as far as cut-and-pasting the "vision":

Quote:
Our Philosophy
Our goal is to build a game where you can have fun role-playing a character and pitting his strength against both creatures and players. While Shattered Kingdoms offers plenty of opportunity to use swords and sorcerery, the emphasis here is on combat through role-play. In addition, our realms provide a less restrictive and more realistic playing environment than similar games. There are no hard-coded restrictions on equipment or on killing, and while we may try to steer you away from an action with subtle warnings, we try hard to let you perform any action which makes sense.

The vision is more than this, of course, and it's not entirely set in stone. My life experiences and the suggestions of the immortals in the pantheon cause us to occasionally veer a bit in our course. I want a game that is innovative without having to sacrifice the features that are taken for granted in other popular games. But because there is only a certain amount of time available, I will always have to choose where to focus attention and what ends up getting the short end of the stick.

More detailed than this, I'm afraid I can't take the time to elaborate. Just writing such a post would require a lot of time and forethought and it's not good to get people's hopes up because it's likely that at least some of it would never come to pass.

And how much of it has, now that we're here?
