I would like to put it under consideration of all of you. Perhaps we could make the spell of creating symbols targeted, and so a priest of light could pray for a symbol for another of light even if in different church? The spell would only work on those of the same aura, not blemished, and I dont know. Just an idea for the shortage of priests we experience. OR I think I saw a thread about making non priest HF able to procure symbols, it could be by asking an NPC to create it perhaps. Houltay's player |

The possibility to give non-clergy religion leaders the ability to create symbols has been discussed before, unfortunately nothing ever came from it. Considering the declining playerbase as one of the issues players deal with daily, certain compromises should be made. This being one of them. In the absence of positive change, I urge any player who finds themselves in a situation where they cannot obtain a symbol via conventional means to do so by offering IC prayers and hoping to catch the eye of a friendly IMM. |

More fascinating would be "faith healing," something you see in D&D. Basically, if you cast a healing spell on someone in the same religion as you, the effect is always maximized. If the Pantheon wants to endorse permanent rivalries, perhaps they could do the same for damage spells against rival faiths. Attaching things to symbols will only make their absence more painful. The prevailing sentiment is that symbols are intended to be RP fluff. This kind of ends any potential discussion on attaching mechanical benefits to them before it starts. |

All of the sacred armor I am aware of takes a holy symbol to gain access to it. |

Many of the sets of sacred armor do not. |

NPCs used to be coded to upon keyword create a symbol for someone. |

We took those out on purpose. If you want a symbol, you must interact with another player. |

Right... which wouldn't be a big deal if there were players who actually chose to play priests in religions with horrible faith spells. Unfortunately except for once in a blue moon there really aren't, so it makes a lot of sense to allow other clergy to create them too. It's not like people wouldn't still be interacting with another player to get them, what's the problem? |
