You recite a petite text.
You stop using a gold ring with a burgundy stone.
You stop using a beaded bracelet with a butterfly charm.
You stop using a cowl of mithril links.
You stop using an emerald infinity pendant.
You stop using a silver bracelet with burgundy beads.
You stop using an emerald infinity pendant.
You stop using a silver ring etched with blue and purple floral designs.
A cast iron shovel quivers in your hand as it shrinks in size.

Apparently this caused every item I was wearing to shrink one size, including all those things I was forced to take off.. I had all medium-sized armor before this, but afterwards I looked at everything and it was all size small.

Is it a super-shrink-everything scroll or a super-annoying bug?

Oddly enough, when I removed everything and put it back on, everything returned to it's normal size.

So weird!

Shrinking/enlarging people is really weird at times, and probably would be a massive headache to work out all the kinks.

Like I've been enlarged to giant before, put on armor that was already giant sized, had the sorc release the spell, and it worked like a mass shrink for the armor.

Syn, look at the target of the recitation. He wasn't shrinking himself.

Since this is about shrinking and the object in question was a shovel, why is it that you can't go to a blacksmith and resize a steel shovel?

Blacksmiths don't use magic, they use a hammer and forge.

Enlarge/shrink has been a big pain for most of the life of the game. The version we have now works pretty well. Here's how I last remember making it work, although I didn't doublecheck the code: If you cast enlarge directly on an object, it makes that object bigger permanently. If you cast enlarge on someone, it enlarges them AND their gear. However, the gear is only enlarged for the same amount of time as the character. They both will revert to their normal size after the same amount of time. Whether or not you are wearing the gear at the time is irrelevant.

An item also returns to its original size if it is faded.

Guh...I recently did a bunch of quests where my giant had to fit through a small hole and I ate some yarrow to get me smaller.

Just don't remove something or drop anything or put anything away...

I ended up having all my stuff random assorted sizes.

Another "bug" that may be simply be a feature is that you can shrink a scout/merc that is shooting at you with a bow/xbow and suddenly their ammo is the wrong size...

Was the best counter I'd seen tried against my merc.

I think when shrink or enlarge end it removes all shrink and enlarge spells from it. If you have an item black smithed or tailored to a new size it returns to that if you had it enlarged it will end up the wrong size. It has been a while since Ive played with the spell a lot thats what I remember it doing.
