Weakened by prolonged submersion in the murky waters of the surrounding

The code must make the player attack, instead of the angry NPCs, after the latter comes to.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if it has been reported before, but alas. Here you go!

That is very wierd. I've had the opposite happen to me recently (my barb's counterattacked NPCs that rise unsteadily to their feet and engage him after being stunned) so I wonder if it's just something to do with Tobias.

I believe that here's your answer. A tick happened, and since the NPC was stunned during the tick, it considers it being out of combat now. Thus, he is able to counter your attack, since it's an attack that you started anew (considering he was out of combat).

Sure he's out of combat, he's stunned. But the question for me is how is it that the NPC initiated the comabt (PC seems to have made no active effort to type "kill NPC") and still got the counterstrike?

And it's probably because the NPC can technically initiate combat with 0% PE, but since he got no attacks, the counterstrike trigger remains set and fires when the PC swings back.

Alternatively, the PC was on mode kill here and still managed to stun the NPC before striking the killing blow. Then with the tick happenening between those two events, the pc's attempt to finish off the NPC would result in a counterstrike like Shadow said.

Actually, he probably just was unlucky enough to stun him on the combat round right before the tick and was thus still in combat the entire time, indicated by the fact that he was on mode kill.

Jerk. I just edited my post while you were proving me wrong.

Jhorleb I don't know if you took a close look at the log but the tick happens right as the NPC is stunned. It looks to me like the game never took the PC out of combat. He wouldn't be taken out of combat considering that he was on mode kill. The NPC got the chance to counterstrike because having been stunned, he had been taken out of combat (unlike the PC). Also notice that the PC gains no PE at the tick, suggesting that the game considers him to still be in combat. You're offering an incredibly unlikely and complicated explanation here involving 0% PE. How would this NPC wind up with 0% PE anyways? Do you think it took the PC 50 rounds to kill him?

I think you are wrong on this one Jhorleb.

Thanks for the input, folks. I hadn't considered the tick having an effect on things.
