Of course from Dulrik's reasoning that the fly spell only makes you hover a few feet off the ground I don't understand how you PLUMMET TO YOUR DEATH!!

In the post where I made that statement, I specifically said that air sector rooms, such as those over a city, were the exception.

I had thought about disallowing quit while in a flying room, but there were too many concerns about what side-affects that might cause (link-dead people never logging out, etc). Since I have no plans to change it, I don't consider this behavior to be a bug.

If you're mot that far up, why does it do so much damage dismounted while the steed is flying? Im talking about non air sector rooms here.

It is possible to kill yourself from a drop of two metres. Remember that as you fall, you accelerate at ten metres per second per second, so you're hitting the ground with a great deal of force.

I believe it's perfectly reasonable to take damage after dismounting from a flying mount. Perhaps though a skill could be given to various physically-inclined classes (mercenaries, scouts, paladins, hellions, rogues, bards) that would allow them to dismount a flying animal (that isn't in an air-only room) without taking damage, to represent rolling with the impact. Of course, I can't see the coding of such a skill receiving high priority.

I vote for this one! Nothing like having your own pet laugh at you.

1.When you quit the game you leave the realms, the mount goes with you. When you log on the mount should still be right under you because you enter at the same time. And when you quit with a mount, and it "wanders away" why is it that the mount comes back when you log in... its automatically there after wandering off.

2. When you fall into a city from above, killed or not, why the hell is it made so that all of your EQ is lost? If you fall off of a helicopter into a city your clothes stay where they are, your body is killed, yet your stuff just doesnt dissapear..

3. Its a plain stupid script, like if you dont have infravision, and its nightime, and you have to exit.. and then you happen to be over a city and you dont know it... your dead.

Edit:
in addition to that... what about us who think logically and do not think that all EQ is destroyed when you plumit to your death over a city. Like the Torrum Arcana.. in those hovering rooms, if your fly spell [REDACTED] up, your EQ is gone, however the room Descs. say you can see Serpent Street below it... however if you walk onto Serpent Street, your lewt isnt there. Whyyyyyyyyy? Is there a purpose or reasoning behind items magically dissapearing?

It has been this way since as long as I can remember in SK. As posted before, it is a game mechanic that you dismount when you leave the realms, should this be over a place where you would plummet to your death, then you do. QED.

Why does equip disappear. Because Dulrik says so.

No offense, but QQ.

It is so easy to imagine how this building is that it makes me wonder how you can even ask such a question. If you go in a shopping center, and you fly at the level of the 5th floor into the hollow part of it, and you suddenly fall from the 5th floor height, would you consider more possible to live or die?

Equipment vanishes for the simple reason that there is nowhere for it to go. If you happen to fall in an area that has a down direction all the way to the ground, your equipment will certainly be deposited there. If there is no ground room at the end of the exit chain, you are assumed to have been flying so high that your items were destroyed.

To the players: would there be an outcry if it simply said 'You cannot quit here' if you type quit while flying + in an 'air' room?

Save lives + save equipment + no need for messy 'conditional dismount' code...

Addendum: And for those who go linkdead->void->quit in such a room, then the behaviour is as per the current code -- fall and die.
