This is impossible now. However, what isn't impossible is people taking adjectives to match the pet they intend to use.

How recent? A few weeks ago a certain now-deleted character was doing this

When you buy and name a pet, the pet's name is string matched against your name and adjective. If it's too close, you are told "it is not a suitable name for a pet." Go ahead and try it, it's been this way for months.

That's when people started making adjectives that match pet targeting words instead.

Why can't I name my flying horsie?

It might be something to do with the class checking script that it has. Notice the slight 'lag' when buy command is entered.

Yes, I guessed that that was the class-checker, but I still don't quite understand why that would keep me from naming it.

I've always thought this odd, but spoke with an Imm about it after bug logging it a few times and got the "Class checker, no problem." It's the way it is so no worries.

Fluffy is a real word. Therefore its not an acceptable name.

As this question comes up at least once a quarter, wouldn't it be an idea to have the shopkeeper tell the prospective new owners that they can have their mount but the beasts are too stupid to remember their own names, so there's no point in giving them one?
