Find something that doesn't die instantly then.

This is a feature so you can't spam stun someone or something in order to skill up on skills or to keep someone from doing anything at all.

A bug I found out on accident: Bards can do just this using their songs of death. If there are other simular spells or techniques, it'll probably work for them too. Figured since we're on the bug forum, I might as well let everyone know.

Does it let you keep stunning someone with songs of death if you stun them, then stop singing, and start up again or does it kill them when you restart the song?

I have a feeling that something in the bards singing mechanic makes the act of singing kinda like a never ending casting of a spell which lets someone get repeatedly stunned because when a bard sings it's a constant loop till something or the player stops it. Dirt kick and other skills don't loop like that so they can check to see if something is under the stun affect each time the command to use them is entered. The bards song wouldn't have the chance to check to see if something is stunned because the skill hasn't been stopped and restarted. I'm curious what happens when the song is stopped after something is stunned and restarted.

All offensive spells don't kill stunned things - just like songs of death.

Code:
[HP: 99%] [ME: 92%] [PE: 49%]
> dir midd
A middle-aged male human is blinded by the dirt in his eyes!
You cleave at a middle-aged male human's head, causing a small but painful wound.

[HP: 99%] [ME: 92%] [PE: 47%]
>
You cleave a middle-aged male human's head, tearing open a bleeding wound!
You slash at a middle-aged male human's head, leaving a big scar across his face!
You slash a middle-aged male human's chest, cutting a small but painful, wound.
You cleave at a middle-aged male human's chest, causing a deep gash.
A middle-aged male human punches at your chest, barely wounding you.
A middle-aged male human misses you.
Overall, a middle-aged male human has quite a few wounds.

[HP: 98%] [ME: 92%] [PE: 46%]

...and here I thought you said you had tried it :/

And something which surprised me was that when you just type 'kill x' it seems that you get a maximum of one attack - so a successful dirt kick yields a free lag-less kill-command, hence why it (when successful) also makes you change targets - unlike bash/trip/other combat commands.

I hope this'll be the end of that.

I'll check it out, and let ya know. Would probably kill it, not that I think about it.

!! nope!! After it's stunned, if a bard starts singing it again, it keeps them stunned!

While this doesn't do much for mastering the skill (since there doesn't need to be a target) it could keep a target stunned indefinitely.

Hrm, that would depend upon whether the pulse tick occurs just before or just after the regular tick. It seems there's always a pulse tick around the regular tick, though.

Sometimes when you open with a bash or trip you will see 5 attacks in the next set of combat messages. I'd make a log of it if I was playing a fighter class currently :( .

That's definatly something that should be looked into.

I did this with a level one giant.

Code:
[HP: 41%] [ME:100%] [PE: 76%]
> bash beast
You slam into a zakami beastie and send it sprawling!
Your bash knocks the wind out of a zakami beastie.

[HP: 41%] [ME:100%] [PE: 59%]
>
You slash a zakami beastie's right arm, cutting muscle and bone!
You stab a zakami beastie's chest, ripping open its stomach!
A zakami beastie misses you.
A zakami beastie misses you.
Overall, a zakami beastie has some big nasty wounds and scratches.

[HP: 41%] [ME:100%] [PE: 59%]
>

I did notice though that it doesn't happen after every bash.

Did...what, exactly? That's a normal bash with no followup attack.
