petrification already hits images. And with the sheer power that maledictions wield and the fact that there are a bunch of images there ready to trick you, I only find it reasonable.

I'd even be for AoE spells to wipe out all of the images since that makes more sense as well.

Mirror image should not protect you against these spells, but the mirror images should not disappear. Hitting the spell caster is fine, but destroying the spell would make area affect magic (which is already extremely powerful in it's own right against mages who already have low hp) overpowered.

As to a reason why the images wouldn't disappear, I'll quote a good source of material for how this spell should work:

"Figments (images) seem to react normally to area spells (such as looking like they're burned or dead after being hit by a fireball)"

Yeah, I missed wherever Dulrik posted that. I think AoE spells should hit the caster but if it also wipes out all of the images then the spell is rather useless. And I'm all up for AoE spells hitting the offending mage because really, they can't escape that. But for it to do that and wipe out all of the images really lends the spell no credibility at all.

And before the newbs start crying crocodile tears about how they can't land a kill on a level 1 character, it's only a fair trade. You get to hit your sorcerer with spells that hit the entire room, while he retains his ability to be partially defended against single target attacks.

I'm in complete agreeance with Ardith. Althought having earthquake wipe out all mirror images would be pimp.

If there are two dwarves in the room that look exactly the same and I cast blind, the spell doesn't pick the one I want to hit. It requires I pick between the two as to which one I want to hit with blindness.

How exactly does blind know which image is the one that needs to be blinded? Maledictions should be affected by mirror image, I cannot think of any logical reason they would not be.

Mirror immages are gathered together around the caster. Maledictions affect a small area thus they blind the caster and pass though the immages with no effect. Vs Area affect spells, it should wound the caster and all immages get the same wounds but do not get dispeled.

Maledictions affect a small area? I don't know of any group maledictions.

I'd suppose mals target a person in the magical sense as opposed to where a person is standing. Like voodoo seeking out your soul, but shorter range. Do mirror images fool voodoo?
