Are you talking about controls or animates?

Controls shouldn't lose anything, but if animates were able to pick locks I can see that getting taken away.

So, why did charmies retain skills such as pick lock, while undead lose them? There are a few areas important to necromancers that require one to pick the lock, which is impossible now without getting a rogue/bard/sorc.

Edit: Or a bit more preparation which involves going to another area altogether to get items that are limited in quantity.

Did you try picking a lock with that ghoul when only you and that ghoul were present in the room?

There was a general change to pick lock lately, when most NPCs get in the way in picking locks.

So give it another try with only you and that ghoul being in the room, after you kill all other NPCs and leave pet/animates behind. If that won't work either, it was changed. But I think it's what I'm talking about probably.

I tried with both only the ghouls, and with Fivel. Ghouls didn't work, Fivel did, and yes we were the only things in the room. Ya know, the room the ghouls were -created- to pick the lock to, their main reason for existence....

Fate's Judgement
There stands before you a set of three doors, marked Past, Present and Future.
Each has a soft grey glow and you get the sense that something is waiting.
You notice that the door you came through has dissappeared and in its place
a is a large fresco of death shrouded in the mist of the river Styx. There
is writing which you at first dont understand underneath it, but in a moment
you seem to get the impression of a question... The question soon presents
itself

You sense that the wrong answer could mean your life.

Other -controls- also lost any non-combat skills (butcher and the like).

I think you're using the merc ghoul who wouldn't have pick or butcher.

Heh, he can backstab/dual backstab and sneak/hide. No it's not the merc ghoul. I've been playing my necro for a while. These NPCs used to/are supposed to be able to pick locks...but they can't anymore.

Why would nightmares lose butcher?

They're friggen demon horses. They fly and have burning hooves. Hrulgin are horses with claws and they eat meat. Nightmares are a lot like Hrulgin. I mean...DEMONS...demons can butcher damnit. Bring back butchering nightmares!

And I swear to god Jardek, horses are supposed to bash. That's what warhorses were friggen trained to do back in the day. Run over people.

I feel the same sentiment as Syndal in this thread.

Butcher:
6. to kill indiscriminately or brutally.
Can a nightmare do this? Yes.
5. to slaughter or dress (animals, fish, or poultry) for market.
Can a nightmare do this? No.

Unfortunately for you cannibal, the butcher skill refers to #5. A demonic nightmare is not able to carve up steaks that are fit for later consumption.

Have you tried all the ghouls Ara? Absyrros, Myrvaen, and Robed Minion?(Those are the three that can right?)

That would definitely be very lame if they lost their abilities, I see no reason why rogue undead wouldn't be able to pick locks.

Yeaaaa.. The xxx was an Absyrros, but I've tried the others as well. All gone.
