Post subject:  Following while in combat (NPCS)

Normally when one is following another and they are caught up in combat they would remain in combat if the one they are following walks away, why did this wary male half-elf from the Haven stop fighting and follow me? Seems like a bug of sorts in my eyes.

Code:
[HP: 100%] [ME:  24%] [PE: 100%] [Wealth: zero]

A zombie's claw at a wary male half-elf's stomach is deflected by steel plate mail.
A wary male half-elf pierces at a zombie's left leg, cutting through a muscle!

[HP: 100%] [ME:  24%] [PE: 100%] [Wealth: zero]
s
You walk south.

Hallway
A long hallway continues here, spanning the entire length of this upper
wing.  The hardwood floor and paneled walls are rather comely, though a
lesser degree of care appears to have been taken on this floor than was
obviously had below.  Doorways are present on either side.
Obvious exits: n e s w
A wary male half-elf walks in from the north.

[HP: 100%] [ME:  24%] [PE:  99%] [Wealth: zero]

A wary male half-elf pierce at your left leg, piercing open a bleeding wound!
A wary male half-elf pierces at your left arm, ripping flesh as if it were butter!
Your left arm goes NUMB!
A wary male half-elf pierces your head, cutting a hole in your head!
Your skull explodes with PAIN!
Overall, a wary male half-elf has quite a few wounds.

This does look like a bug.

You walked off.

Then your zombie left because you did. Pets and such don't stay and fight to the death, they try to escape if you flee or walk off.

Then the NPC tracked you and attacked,

I think Paladin answered the topic question, but I have one similar to this question so I thought I'd ask it here.

It seems like when you are fighting something and then you flee and hide before the NPC can catch up to you they see you anyways. I know I was hiding cause it says I step out of the shadows when I hit them after they have hit me. Was there a change put in that let all NPCs you attacked see you or something like that? I've tried reading all the updates but I can't find anything answering my question. I know NPCs have seen me hidden after I attacked them that could not see more before I did.

If you all noticed, 1) I didn't flee 2) since I was in second row without a weapon I just typed s to walk south and since the NPC auto follows dark auras in this area it followed me immediately, Not giving the zombie a chance to flee. Where the NPC should have remained in the room fighting the zombie until either it killed the zombie or the zombie fled, then the NPC should have came after me, but these NPCs don't even track.

Some NPCs do detect hidden, you sure that wasn't the case?

In my experience with charms/animates, the moment you leave the room and they are no longer being watched over they will flee immediately.

What I presume happened, you left, the zombie fled, and then the NPC tracked you.

Not much to it really.

Yea, I'm almost positive I've walked through the room unnoticed by them before. I was just curious whether or not something had changed with following attackers that would cause something like this.

You aren't looking closely enough at the messages he got:

Yes, a charmie will flee out if you walk out of the room during combat. However, in this instance it didn't even give time for that to happen. This wary half-elf is scripted to follow the bad guys. That's what he's doing here. Just like when any old shmoe is following you, when you walk into the next room, what you see along with the room description that you've just walked into is the "A wary male half-elf walks in from the north." message. If he had been tracked in it would have looked like this:

Code:
[HP: 100%] [ME:  24%] [PE: 100%] [Wealth: zero]
s
You walk south.

This was not a NPC tracking someone who fled. This was a NPC following someone into the next room via the standard "follow" command, even though he was engaged in combat.

Bug.
