i have a particular item that you wear on your arms and it bites you every few ticks, thing is when people look at me it says my legs are scratched...not sure if it's a bug or mis-write or what or if there's even any way to change it but i just thought it was kinda weird something you wear on your arm would scratch your leg.

If you were to, in theory, let someone attack you for a round, and they dealt you x amount of damage to the arm, it would show as damage to you. But due to the fact that the MUD doesn't keep track of where the damage was done, only that it was, it will tell you damage was done to some random body part.

No bug, just the server can't keep track of it all.

I was under the impression that it did keep track of where damage was. Perhaps that whole 'limbs coming off' system made me think it. Perhaps that's just dead random and it doesn't really track specific damage at all.

I'd call it a bug, or at least, a somewhat annoying oversight.

it must be extremely lucky then, every time it's happened it's scratched my legs, one scratch on my right and one on the left never anything else. that doesn't sound random

Combat damage is kept track of on limbs. I am guessing script and magical damage automatically defaults to the legs, but I really don't know. The only one who would know is Dulrik.

It could default to where you are aimming yourself. If you are aimming lower. Normaly spells do not scrach limbs and such.

Fairly sure I know what item you're talking about and I've noticed it always shows the damage being done to your legs.

P.S. I <3 that item.

"When you have a lot of money in your pocket, you start buying some ridiculous [REDACTED]. Like this one time, I bought a snake bite emergency kit. I told all my friends, don't worry, if you ever get bitten by a snake, just relax. My friend stepped on a worm and i went, wait! Just lie down! And I pulled out my snake bite kit.

Yea... a snake bite emergency kit... is a body bag..."

Just felt like sharing that completely off topic post.
